I mean frick. It's really insane that he didn't think of that. He CLEARLY could not have thought of that, because with runners on second and third with just one out, YOU PROBABLY WIN THE GAME.

I wish someone would've asked him why he didn't put someone else in to bunt.

Mainieri more on Deichmann-bunting: "Probably made a mistake by taking Sciambra out when I did because it hamstrung us." #LSU
But it really didn't. You could've put byrd in.

Mainieri: "We didn’t play fundamentally sound. We had a few base-running mistakes. We threw to the wrong base. Fell asleep on a relay." #LSU
Keep on blaming the players.

Manieri is just proving that you have to have considerable convoluted thinking to make these bad decisions. They were not risky decisions, just stupid ones.

Your boy has one RBI since you started knighting for him 3 weeks ago. ONE, in three weeks.

Mainieri makes $750,000 guaranteed because LSU fans are passionate about LSU baseball and the program makes good money. The guy has nothing to do with that passion. His job performance is worth about $90,000.

I admit that I didn't get to watch the game tonight, just looked at box score.

But I guess PM is damned if he does, damned if he doesn't because people bitch about him bunting too much and not using his closer soon enough all the time

The people who hate bunting were bitching that he didn't bunt. We didn't bring in the closer to stop something. Much like when Bouman was pulled, it was to start an inning. Most were questioning it. And leaving in a closer for 4 innings is overboard. Throw in that he's coming off of a surgery and he hasn't gone longer than an inning all year, and it's just reckless.

I definitely didn't like seeing Bugg and Person gone so soon. It feels like CPM assumed we would score every time, and just had to keep bringing Stallings back out when we didn't.

Mainieri said that he didn't bunt Greg Deichmann because "the kid has never bunted in his life." Took responsibility for not preparing him.
THEN PULL HIM AND PUT SOMEONE ELSE IN WHO CAN BUNT.

He should never have pulled Zardon. Screw his matchup BS. Deichmann had 2 ABs in his college career and was rusty. I would have taken my chances with Zardon.

I would have torn them with Sciambra at that point honestly. We would have had a bunter there later in the game. Hindsight there, but it was a dumb move to begin with IMO.
