Hi there! My girlfriend accidentally locked her keys inside her car. Anyone here had success popping their own lock on a 2000ish Honda. She's taking an hour or two to shop (of course) so was just going to see if there was a relatively easy way to unlock using a hanger, etc. Of course, if not, I'll just ring Pop-a-Lock. Figured we'd save $50 if possible.

Is this your GF?

ETA: If you have full coverage from State Farm they will pay for Pop-a-Lock for you. Been there, done that.

Nah, I've had success with a 2001 Accord but a 2000. Sorry, bro.

Do either of you have AT&T? They stick a roadside assistance charge in on you that covers that. You might be paying for it and not even know. Other phone companies probably do this too.

You can try prying the top of the door open, with wedges of wood, and then push the unlock button with a coat hanger. I've done this on a few people's cars/trucks. Never tried on a Honda accord, though. Good luck.

I have asked a policeman to unlock my door and they have always used a tool and unlocked it. This only works if you don't have pot or dogs in the car.

Thanks stout, hg, nex2010, bird35, and sparkplug--she ended up using a wire hanger and unlocking it. FYI--checked into the auto insurance/ATT angle and both would have worked for her had she not been able to unlock herself. Really appreciate it. Have a good weekend!
