The wealthy have clubs for golfing, yachting and socializing. But a fast-growing club in Florida is offering a different kind of pursuit: firing guns.

Pine Creek is an exclusive 2,500-acre community in Okeechobee that caters to rich gun lovers. Members include golfing legends Jack Nicklaus and Nick Price, as well as a number of real-estate titans and financiers.
?
And membership doesn't come cheap: To join you have to buy a home, which starts at $700,000 for cabins and goes up to $5 million for a ranch. In addition to the house, members pay $30,000 a year in dues.

Yet the benefits include all the amenities of a five-star hotel—and then some. There's a swimming pool and fitness center, along with horseback riding, a recreation field and an outdoor activity area.

"The lawn is mowed, the beds are turned down, the wash is done," Pine Creek developer Stephen A. Myers told "Secret Lives of the Super Rich." "Your massages are set up, if you prearrange those. Your shopping is done in town."

And of course, there's lots of shooting.

Members can target shoot with sporting clays, at the rifle and pistol range and a trap field. For those who like more adventure, there are hunts for quail, turkey and wild hog. The staff keeps the area regularly stocked with wildlife.

There are also bridle paths and nature and bike trails.

Some of the gun collections at Pine Creek make the homes look downright affordable. Myers gave "Secret Lives of the Super Rich" an exclusive tour of the club's fortified gun vault, which holds around 800 guns—many worth six figures.

Myers showed a pair of guns made by Luciano Bosis, the famed Italian gunmaker. They range from $150,000 to $250,000 for the pair.

But just having the money and the guns doesn't guarantee membership. The club accepts 100 members and there are only around 30 spaces left.

"Our members are generally referred by other members," Myers said.

Similar to Bray's Island

quote:

Brays Island Plantation is private, pristine and worlds away from hurried everyday life. Yet this 5,500 acre plantation is just an hour from Charleston and Savannah and 45 minutes from Hilton Head. With only 325 homesites and 3,500 acres set aside as a nature and hunting preserve, Brays Island is committed to protecting the surrounding environment while maintaining the sporting lifestyle of a traditional Lowcountry plantation.

Residents at Brays Island Plantation pursue numerous outdoor interests in a setting of peerless beauty. World-class horseback riding, hunting, and shooting are all available here. Fresh and saltwater ponds offer numerous fishing opportunities, while the surrounding tidal marshes provide easy access to nearby beaches, the Intracoastal Waterway and Atlantic Ocean. And you'll find a tee time is never needed on our 6,800 yard links style golf course.
