MS Office/ Access 2013 frustration

I moved to Office 2013 a while back but this week I discovered that I can't import or link to a dbf file in Access13. WHAT? So I have to convert to excel or get someone with an earlier version to import the file and hand it off to me. Does anyone have a workaround for importing dbf files into Access 2013? Why did Microsoft do this?

1. Connect to .dbf using ADO
2. Extract columns names and datatype
3. Generate Access CREATE TABLE DDL from extracted columns of .dbf
4. Execute obtained CREATE TABLE DDL.
5. Extract rows from .dbf then insert to new table.
6. Import finished.
Another reason to stay with 2010

Same with mdf (pre Access 2007) files so they are not just picking on non-Microsoft file types. I'm working a project now to move a mdf app to Access 2013. Times, they are a-changing.
