Well, thats a very misleading set of data points to back up your original statement:

Outside of the upper Midwest and northeast there is no youth hockey network to speak of

Thats is false. Completely false.

MLB should also thank all the "OGs" who buy their hats and generate mdse revenue.

Ok so like I said I'm asking you.....where else has a significant youth hockey system? The data suggests that it tends to be the two regions I've mentioned and that has been my personal experience as well. So provide your evidence, FWIW I'm not saying you're wrong

I find it hard to believe there is a significant amount of youth hockey anywhere outside the northeast. It hardly exists here in South FL

Looks like from the map, that California has a significant Hockey presence. And will continue to grow.

I could see Texas as next Southern Area to take off.

TBH the fact that California only has that many players considering its a state of almost 40 million people kinda proves the point that it isn't a big hockey area.

I don't want to derail this thread anymore than it already is nor turn this into some sort of pissing match. Point is that hockey is a very regional sport for the most part and that hurts its overall popularity. I love hockey and I want so bad for it to grow in the US and the south and west, time will tell whether it ever takes off mainstream or not, but right now it isn't a universally popular sport, that isn't debateable

Hockey is nowhere near as popular as other sports but there are youth hockey systems throughout the country outside of the upper midwest and northeast. The south obviously lacks but the midwest, west coast, east coast and texas all have organized youth hockey with pockets in florida and places like atlanta, phoenix, nashville etc.
