Rnking the NFL head coaches

I may be swayed a bit being a saints fan and SP supporter but you can not tell me that there are 6 coaches better then SP. I will give you the first two but I don't know about the rest. Anyone else think this list is off?

based on what was said, the only ones i have an issue with would be Tomlin and Coughlin - however he provided some stats that are hard to argue with.
i am ok with him being number 6 - could easily be a lot worse after last season alone.

I think the writer used pretty sound logic in his analysis. Like he said, last season didn't help his cause.

List is not bad, but I think they are overrating Tomlin. Dude has never been a top 10 coach.

Decent list in my opinion. One of the better major media standings write-ups I've seen. They at least use some pretty solid measurables to make their list (Superbowls, Win Percentage, Playoff Win Percentage, Playoff appearances, etc). Most of the time similar analyses are almost always opinionated and have little to back them up.

CSP has not been ultra impressive lately.
He has a history of being stubborn about things that hurt the team.
We'll have to see how this latest purge works out for us.

I understand his logic and the points he makes although I do think when it comes down to pure coaching CSP is better then tomlin, coughlin, Harbaugh, and also Mccarthy.

I would agree with you except with Tomlin, he's a very good coach (and at times a better 12th man than Seattle in some ways
) I am also of the opinion that the proof is in the results, but being a former player I know that sometimes having a good coach doesn't always show up in the record. Perfect example of that is Marvin Lewis. He's the second longest tenured coach in the NFL, and the longest tenured coach without post-season success. Mike Smith was another one. Knowing him personally and having him as a coach jades me, but just about anyone who's played for him will tell you he was a fantastic coach. Atlanta really shite the bed with that decision. Andy Reid is probably another one in the category of being respected as a good coach but not having much success down the stretch.
**it happens, especially in the NFL. So many possibilities for a season to be derailed.

Coughlin at 3 is a huge fricking joke. Outside of that, I think that CSP is right where he should be.

McCarthy has been quietly successful everywhere he has been to my knowledge. In general he might get less credit than he deserves. Having Rodgers obviously helps immensely though.

He's got a fantastic post-season record, which is a pretty good indicator that he is a good coach. The season they pulled together in 2011 was no joke. Going to Green Bay and beating them like they did, then going to San Fran to pull away an OT win is no small feat. For an underdog to go from last to first takes all facets of a team working flawlessly, including coaching.
I also respect Michael Strahan's high opinion of Tom as a coach.

How is Tomlin any good? Dudes in game adjustments are horrible. Without Dick Lebeau(s?) Tomlin would have been fired a long time ago.

Couldn't agree more.
Coughlin coached the most successful expansion team in NFL history. In his stay in Jacksonville, he took them to the AFC Championship game twice. He averaged 10 wins a season his first 5 years with the Jaguars...an unheard of accomplishment.
He's won 2 Superbowls with the Giants.
And he's a joke?
