Anyone here hunt with a Thompson Center Impact 50 cal?

Yup. Busted it out this year for the first time in a few years. Shot a little buck with it. Very accurate gun, 1" groups easy at 100 yards.

I'm talking about an encore. I have used a Thompson muzzleloader that was not an inline design. Renegade, I believe. Only time I've shot deer with open sights. Also missed an opportunity at one because of faulty snap cap. This model had a set trigger, I like that a lot. Used to shoot round balls out of it with patches. Not nearly as accurate as modern bullets.

Patched round balls can be very accurate if the rate of twist is slow in your rifle.
Also, it takes some experimenting with the size of the ball the thickness of the patch, and the charge of powder to find the most accurate combination.
What the round balls won't have is the range of modern bullets.
