Keep it casual. Bistro byronz, digulio is a good one. Beausoliel and or Chelsea's are good spots too.

I was thinking DiGiulio's, but wasn't sure if that was too overboard. The owner comes to the bar I work at all the time

I dont think it is overboard at all. The place is small and is loud but the food is great. I think its great for a first date because you arent sitting in some really quiet restaurant and it seems relaxed in there with all the regulars and the staff.

My buddy bartends there so that was my first choice, but she had sushi last night. Think we're settled on DiGiulio's. Jones coming in the clutch as usual

Digulios was always my go to first date place

Always a wait, but a good wait, gives you a chance to loosen up, have a drink and talk. Then once you get in and sit it's loud enough that is isn't awkward, but not so loud you can't talk if you want to.

It was our first date.

Good job on skipping sushi, IMO. It isn't the most graceful food to eat when you don't know someone well, and us ladies are weird about that. If she likes the large specialty rolls, it would be a clumsy mess.
