Of course this turned into a 380 vs 9mm debate

I think this argument stems from the fact that there are so many compact 9mm guns out there that are just about as easy to conceal as a .380. 9mm is ballistically superior to the .380 and is generally cheaper ammo as well. The benefits far outweigh any issues with a 9mm. Like others and I have stated, Kahr and S&W both make great carry 9mms. Ultimately it is your choice what to purchase.

there is no need to carry a Sig p238 when you can own a Sig p938 when the 9mm is almost the exact same size as the .380

I think the jump in subcompact single stack 9mm versus the same in 380 makes the jump from comfortable waistband carry to comfortable pocket carry.

The 9mm can be carried in some pockets whereas the 380 can be carried in virtually all pockets.

What's a fair price for a Shield right now?

going rate for a local shop will be 389.99-399.99. you can find them online for dirt cheap and avoid taxes, as wel payl as a minimal transfer fee if you use Sulzer ($10) or AWS ($15)

i toot the Bowie's horn on here a lot because i work there, but $50 is really high. You can find Shields for 340-350, not pay taxes, and pay $10 for a transfer fee, which is a steal

Then why aren't we talking about the ruger?

I actually don't hate the way the Taurus looks, but I don't own guns that can't feed 10k rounds without a malfunction.

There's a reason I sold my AR after four days of happy happy ownership... It jammed.

With the g42 out, why is this even an argument?

Admittedly, Glock makes some really nice guns, but despite their slogan, they're not necessarily "perfect." In my opinion, the Model 42 is imperfect. As I mentioned earlier, I think a 380 is best used as a pocket gun (that will fit in nearly any pocket) when, for whatever reason, one can't carry a slightly larger gun. I see no reason to carry a 380 in a belted holster. OTOH, the Model 42 is a good bit bigger than the typical 380 pocket gun so there'll be a lot more pockets it won't fit into. If one has to carry it in a belted holster, why not carry a small, single stack 9mm? There are really some nice cc guns on the market that say something other than "Glock" on the slide.

a Kahr CM9 9mm is about the same size of a Glock 42 .380. I can't recommend it enough. I carry it daily. If I'm wearing shorts I carry the Karh CW380. It fits in my pocket better.

Okay, the recoil on the ruger with +p loads is more than most will want to handle.

I'm actually NOT a fan of the g42. Or any of the full-size glocks either.

Are we still talking about the p938 and p238?

Again, they are almost the exact same size and if one can fit in pocket so can the other.
