Harris County demolished the exterior ramps that were added in the late 1980s (so not original). They have to keep the air conditioning going because of mold issues. I think it's $1 million per year for electric use.

Holy shite. Balls caster is right! WTF is wrong w homeless people that they haven't snuck in there? Air conditioning? NYC homeless people would be all over that shite

not sure many pics were taken, battery %s were running low and had to be maintained for safe passage home and flashlights to make sure we could see any bums before being stabbed

we didn't make it to the roof like these guys though, thank God

It needs to be torn down. It shouldn't even be a debate. The only thing keeping it standing is nostalgia.

and yes, I've seen the Astros play there.

I don't think that was real turf that teams played on anyway... I think it was left there for the movie Friday Night Lights when they filmed at the Astrodome.

My dad was there as well. Mickey Mantle hit the first ever homerun in the Astrodome.

I think my Maw-Maw and Paw-Paw were there too. They brought back a bitching media guide about the Astrodome and the Astros.

Homeless people tend to want to be outside and in "nature". They could also have a bed somewhere if they wanted. At least some semblance of a bed.
