Majora's Mask is not nearly as fun as I remember

I have to admit that I hadn't played through the game in a decade but when the remake came out on 3DS I was very excited to play what I remembered as a top 3 Zelda game.
After having the game for several weeks I have to say it has feels like a chore to get through the game. The tone and atmosphere of impeding doom made it stand out in 2000. But in 2015 when the gritty and depressing thing dominates entertainment, the most glaring aspect of the game is repetitiveness, which makes it both boring and annoying.
Also the complete lack of direction in some of the tasks is infuriating. I played with a guide back in the day because little 9 year old Cockopotamus liked buying game guides, but at 24 I figured I could get through the game without assistance for the most part. Nope. Some of the shite that is supposed to be figured out is truly sadistic by the makers of the game, unless they knew gamers would have assistance.
tl;dr- Ocarina of Time >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Majora's Mask

Some of the tasks you have to complete to get necessary masks are ridiculous. I like the game and it has heart, but I hate havig to constantly get on youtube to see what the frick I need to do. Boss fights are lame too.

Only 4 dungeons is a disappointment too

Soft gamers need to stay on their consoles, maybe stick to CoC or Candy Crush even.

Yeah leave the Nintendo games to PC users....

Not many have the time to endlessly run around the world for hours trying to figure out how to get certain items so you can do a thing to make progress. Nice trite comment though.

Yea, its not like the game is an exclusive console release

It's unfortunate, but games you played a decade ago or longer are never as good as you remember. Played goldeneye lately? That's probably the best example of a game that didnt hold up.

Yeah. It's a lot more fun the first time to be honest. But it has aged well. It's the only of its kind and certainly is no disappointment though.

Nostalgia man. 90% of those games will never be as good as your memory of playing them as a kid.

I never finished it as a kid because it didn't do it for me. I was excited to give this game a chance again since I'm a big Zelda fan. I beat 2 dungeons and got bored. The repetitiveness is just too much. I'm also a big fan of dungeons and this game doesn't have many. I don't see what is so special about it. I still say if it was released today people would call it a cash grab with a time gimmick to pad play time. I just don't find it fun. To each his own but it doesn't do it for me.

Time gimmick? The entire game rotates around that so-called gimmick. It's a unique and dark game. The time mechanics defines the tone and story. I stand by it being the most Apocalyptic game of all time and it is a true one-of-a-kind game.

I know that. I'm just saying that would be the perception today.

What's your favorite 3DS game? I will get one when I get through some Vita backlog.

I don't hate Majora's Mask but I was never a huge fan of it. Ocarina of Time and Wind Waker are my top 2 Zelda games. Then there's a decent gap between 2 and 3. My third favorite is Twilight Princess.
Wind Waker will never be a bad game graphically speaking because of the art style. The original game looks just as amazing as it did in 2003 for me.

It certainly hasn't aged as well as OoT.

The thing is even with games with worlds as massive as Skyrim out nowadays, Hyrule in OoT still feels pretty damn big.

Bull to the shite sir. It may not look graphically amazing but that game is still fun as hell
