Universal is moving forward with its Scarface remake and has tapped Straight Outta Compton writer Jonathan Herman to do the rewrite.

Paul Attanasio and David Ayer wrote previous drafts of the film, which will be a new and original take on the immigrant story, which spawned films in 1932 and 1983.

That would be very loosely based on the original

The story having a Mexican immigrant would do fine. If thats the route they take and take the film seriously I say Gael Garcia Bernal

What original?
Book and 1932 film has him as an Italian immigrant.

BTW, the 1932 film starring Paul Muni is one the best pre-code films.

I'd see it if they gave the lead role to Oscar Isaac.

Otherwise, look for this film to tarnish the Scarface name.
