I believe you have it backwards. Remove yourself from the shoes of a Saints fan.
Greed is not at all relative, I'm sorry to say. Frankly I feel bad for you if you actually believe that. You sound like the type to justify theft because someone is broke and had to feed his family
Just bc someone doesn't have anything doesn't mean they can't be greedy. It just makes them poor

All of you are greedy! As of October 4, 2014 there are 4.4 billion people that have no access to internet. All of you have too much.

Never. Not even for a second. I'd rather be dead.

Yes it is.

Theft and greed are not the same thing.

I dont think it's lost on me.
I've looked all over me.
Don't see any irony.
Must be lost somewhere else.

Just give out your address and I'm sure they would appreciate that.

Without a solid coach, you don't get very far. The statement "Brees, not Payton, is the reason for our success" is purely asinine. And it shows how stupid the man who wrote the article is.
Jeff Duncan Mock Draft level stupid.
Well I agree with this

I agree with most of the thing you're saying. Few thoughts though
Have the Saints asked him to do this?
Don't think they're saying that. Just saying that Brees has more to do with it. I mean he's the one actually throwing the ball.
But other than that I think you're right about everything you've said. Oh &
Eh, wouldn't go that far. He has earned it.

Drew won the Saints a Super Bowl. He can do whatever the frick he wants.
Posted on 3/18/15 at 3:48 pm to jptiger2009
I don't think Brees is greedy because without him as the triggerman, the success with Payton wouldn't even be close.
But as your skills start to diminish whether or not it is because of the players around you or not, it's time for him to restructure.

Damnit Drew. Take less & sign your Pippen. Have your stuff together. Win another super bowl, & ride that fame to $$$$ after retirement.
Signed most Saints fans.
You mean to tell me that despite all the money we throw around on guys other than Brees, we still haven't found his Pippen?
Posted on 3/18/15 at 4:58 pm to jptiger2009
Why should he be considered greedy when it's the going rate.. Even for lesser talented quarterbacks.. And unlike those other guys Brees actually earned his pay while being severely underpaid all those years.

There are more angels to this situation than the new Falcon stadium. Is Brees greedy? No. The Saints got great value on the first contract he signed here (although the Saints took a gamble that the Dolphins weren't willing to take and the contract was "market value" at the time).
Is it his fault the cap is in shambles?
No. Loomis and Payton have missed on almost every big contract signing since they've been here. The lack of cheap labor through the draft forced them into the FA market and it didn't work out.
Can Brees help the situation? Absolutely. He can extend and save the team upwards of $10 to $14M.
If the team hasn't approached him on this, that's not Brees' fault.

He has come out more than once and said that he would rework his contract if the team asked him to. Payton and Loomis both said that they have not asked and do not intend to ask him.
If someone offers you a piece of cake and you say no thanks, is that person greedy for then eating it?
This entire line of thought that Drew is greedy is nothing more than pseudo drama created by national media and regurgitated by sheeple.

Just out of curiosity, how does anyone know this? How many games have the Saints played without Brees since he's been here? How many of those weren't meaningless games?
Finally, I love how people act like the Saints without Brees equals the backups they have now starting. The Saints would draft or sign a free agent QB with potential if Brees wasn't here instead of trying to use mediocre backup level guys to be there just in case. Part of the reason they have to do that is because Brees' cap hits are significant enough to not allow a strong backup.
In the end, Brees doesn't give a crap about the team, nor is he required to do so, but the fact is that he tries to portray himself as a guy that is all about the team, and his actions tell a different story. People claim he was underpaid to his performance on his first Saints contract but ignore that he refused to agree to multiple extensions offered to him while on the contract until it was finished. Furthermore, the Saints took a huge risk on him and gave him $10M+ guaranteed coming off a major injury for a QB. He was fairly compensated for the risk the Saints took on at the time.
He's greedy, but that doesn't make him a horrible guy.

Link showing a contract extension was offered before the 2010 season?
Pretty positive it was talked about and the Saints backed out because he had such a team friendly contract through 2011

Common sense

Even a first round pick would have less than a 50% chance of being with a damn based on the last 10 years

They agreed to a contract. It isnt his fault or his agents that the salary cap hit is big. The team had a choice they weren't strong armed into a deal. Honor the deal. That goes for all teams.
