I'd say it's more of a mix between DA:O and the old Baulders Gate games. It's much more combat friendly than BG, but not as much as DA:O.

It's more like Baldur's Gate 2015 with a different system than D&D.

If you played BG, BGII, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, basically any infinity engine game then you'll feel right at home.

Will buy tomorrow

How in the hell do you repair weapons in this game, or can you not do it?

I just picked the last post to ask that because there was no other relevant post to use, no worries.

Is the game worth the price and the comments in this thread?

OHHH frick yeah! I am about 12 hours in and loving every minute of it. If you liked games like Baldur's gate, Neverwinter Nights, and even the older D&D games like Pools of Radiance you will love this. There are some bugs to be worked out, but I haven't found anything I couldn't work around quickly.

You will like it, it's those games but updated for today's tech and convenience. The game does not hold your hand though, but it's also not too hard to figure out. I love maps that open up as you explore, the only thing I wish they had was a way to set party members to auto cast because you have to micro manage like a bitch to get the full potential out of your party.

I think the lack of tactical options is going to scare some people away.

I'm sure I will end up playing, just not immediately.

I loved Baldur's Gate but I've grown a bit lazy. I like having the rest of the party do their thing.

I'm with you on this, I play the class I want and that's what I want to control, I don't want to play fighter, monk, ench, wiz, cleric, ranger, etc.., all at the same time.

That's what I miss the most. I hate hate hate messing with scripting, and most games nowadays expect you to use it. I loved the isometric view and strategic pausing (read: autopausing, mostly) of those old Infinity Engine games.

Only had a few hours to play the game, but I'm in love with it. It's great to see what Obsidian can do when they aren't being bent over by publishers time and time again.

I played a few hours before I discovered "fast" mode, that mad things so much easier. I am moving this to my SSD now to help with the load screens.

So.....

This game is awesome.

My main problem right now is there doesn't seem to be much of a possibility of keeping a small party. Did anyone else find this? I tried to stay alone for the beginning of the game but I can't. So I added just one to my party and we get slaughtered. I'll have to go back to the Inn and get the wizard I suppose.

Also, there isn't much of a grind in the beginning, usually I like to level up my char before I really begin the story.

But I'm getting the hang of it, and it's fun as shite.

There is no need to keep a small party, if you are full any future people you meet get put in a holding area and you can access them. As mention by someone, get a full party as soon as you can, there are even benefits to having idle party members later in the game.

I turned off the tutorial tips and haven't hit a bug since.

This game is very good. To me there is a very heavy tactical presence in combat. On non-trash mobs there is a good deal of micromanaging. I haven't hotkey'd any spells/abilities, but I can see the benefit because it can get a bit tedious if you micromanage everyfight. If I know my party is overpowered for the area I just let them normal attack away.

Best advice I can give as well is to give all of your people a range weapon, customize your formation to always have optimal setup, i.e. tanks in front ranged in back, I like to keep my chanter and priest in mid range. Also, basically always have sneak on when going through new areas so you can find the purple stashes, they usually have great loot. It's a good idea to have someone with high sneak in the group at all times for this purpose.

Right now my party is 2 fighter tanks and 1 ranger bear companion tank, 1 priest and 1 chanter with ranged attacks, 1 ranger and 1 wizard.

I'm finding that I don't use the wizard as much cause he usually ends up aggro'ing things for some reason and get's murdered, but there are some spells I've totally overlooked that make them so much more useful.

From what I'm reading there are abilities with-in every class that make them totally badass. Like Priest: Withdraw, and using it to bottleneck an area for 20+ secs.

TL;DR there are tactics galore.

Wait until you see all the things you can do with it, the keep is very well done.
