Started my pre-load at lunch

I may have to stay up and at least start a character before I'm about to go to sleep.

I ended up getting a labtop fan and wireless keyboard/mouse, going to hdmi to a tv...it's gonna be sweet!

That's pretty ridiculous. I thought I was gonna be able to play it in about 4 hours.

Serious fail.

quote:

Pillars of Eternity is an RPG that really makes you feel like you’re on an adventure. Plunging the depths of ancient ruins, battling the monstrous creatures who lurk there, grabbing the loot, then limping back to the warm glow of an inn’s hearth to rest and steel yourself for the next quest. It’s a testament the quality of the art, atmosphere, and writing that, despite the old school 2D visuals and isometric perspective, I’m completely transported to its world when I play it.

And it’s big. Like, really big. It took me 11 hours to reach Defiance Bay, the first of the game’s two capital cities. There are multi-path, open-ended quests everywhere, and your journal will fill up rapidly as you explore. It was another 30 hours before I reached the second city, Twin Elms, and there are dozens of towns, temples, ruins, and wilderness sections to explore on the way. There’s a critical path to follow, which leads you naturally across the world map, but you can ignore it and explore at your own pace.

So what exactly makes a CRPG different? I understand it's on PC but what specifically about it?

It's a reference back to the days of the D&D games like Pools of Radiance and games like Baldur's Gate. Just read it as "old school RPG."

I didn't play those. How do they play different? Why do people love them so much?

frustrating playing this with multiple screens. even when i change setting to trap the cursor in the game box it resets itself. i switched to " big heads" once and one of my characters was stuck with it when i tried to change back. whenever i grab a ton of loot it says im too heavy to walk but i can still walk just fine. observations after 1 hour of play. maybe they weren't ready for release after all. I chose godlike Druid.

I am ignoring all game play quotes until I play it, a lot of times I find that things that some people have problems with I never see or notice. Name one game that has come out that didn't need some patching to fix, it's the nature of the beast in gaming today. From what I understand they seemed to have put a lot of time and effort into making a game that you don't beat in 8 hours and is a huge open world.

If the game was made by Ubisoft ignore everything I just said.

Well I also heard its one of the best RPG's in years. In general I don't watch too much content of games I know I will be playing like Arkham Knight.

This is my 2nd pre-load in a row where I have had to re download the game before when it goes live.

Steam issue my guess. I'm not thrilled with the steam platform lately.

Ok, just 15 minutes into the game and I have an audio bug that plays this sound over and over and doesn't stop. I have exited and then loaded once and it came right back, if it keeps up I will not be able to play this until it's fixed. Game play is very good though.

---edit----

found a work around. Go to the ‘Game’ section of the options menu, find ‘Show In-Game Tutorials,’ and toggle that off. Going by what other people have said, this should fix the problem.

In 2 hours the only bug I have found is the sound bug which I fixed. I can tell this game will consume many many hours of my life. Just what I needed while waiting for W3.
