What can I use that is simple and affordable?

Simplest set up would be VCR/DVD recorder combo like this LINK
The next simplest thing would be connecting a VCR and DVD Recorder with RCA cables or S-Video cables. I have done the latter before and it's a simple enough process.
The more complex would be getting a video card with the right inputs and doing this on a computer. An increase in complexity and cost, but you get more output options.
Also, Walmart offers a service $20 for 2 tapes LINK

Can also buy a video capture device that converts from RCA to a .mp4 ( or similar). I did this, and it works okay. Just can be painfully slow at a 1:1 record rate. But you get all your videos in a digital format, which was my end goal.

This is the one I have. I don't recall it being this expensive, but it works fine. There are others available as well. The quality is not great, but it's from VHS. And it kinda sucks going 1:1. You basically have to let the entire video play and it records the video screen until you tell it to stop.

Thanks! I'm looking at all the devices out there that you linked. I had no idea that these were available.
