I have a feeling being able to inbound the ball at key moments during the game will be the deciding factor. We have struggled with this all year long and now that we are in the tourney, smart coaches will see that and game plan for it. If we can somehow limit turnovers from such a simple aspect of the game, it should serve us well towards achieving victory.

Making more free throws will help too. I mean how the frick does tim Quaterman miss 3 free throws in a row? Holy shite that was terrible

If an opponent does any scouting whatsoever they know they can face guard and take away a few possessions. Hopefully we draw up a few new plays to get the damn ball in play.

I find it hard to believe that a college basketball team doesn't run inbound plays designed to score points on the first and second options of the play with the third and fourth just being to get the ball in play. It would seem that LSU doesn't have any set plays to run on inbound plays and that is truly sad. We had 11 plays specifically designed for this when I played high school basketball and that's why I find it hard to believe a college team doesn't run them. There are so many scoring chances off these plays with the proper screens and away from the ball movement that can lead to wide open jump shots and lay ups.

Not a fan of lobbing a Hail Mary to the other end of the court?

I'm not all that concerned about scoring off of an inbound play, but just get the damn ball in. Against AU, LSU inbounded the ball from underneath the basket. Of the four on the court, 2 stood still at the block with their outside arms up while the other two stood still in the corners. NO ONE moved at all at any point once the ball was whistled into play. Predictably it led to a turnover.

It is a basic aspect of the game that no one else seems to struggle with as much as LSU. It's gotten so bad that seemingly every inbounds play (except after an opponent's made basket) is a hold your breath moment

Another key would be to have more points at the end of the game than your opponent. Ha.

Against NC State, it will be guarding the 3 point line and getting defensive rebounds. We cannot get lost on screens and WE CANNOT PLAY ZONE.

We had nearly 20 when I played college ball...almost too many but we usually ran the same 5 over and over. They all worked if the screens were set. Plays only work if players know how to screen and come off screens...this team does not.

What is this, high school?

But, I agree. Make your FT's. And, big to me (for any team that wants to succeed), offensive rebounding and second-chance points.

So I guess that in bounding the basketball is only a concern at the high school level? Sure has been a problem for LSU this year accounting for nearly 10 turnovers.

I will say that inbounding the basketball is far down on the list of things that this team doesn't do well!

Yeah, and I just want the team, including Jones, to just be aware of where they are in the game. Good to great teams know what kind of plays you should run when you are up by 8 with a minute to go. They know how to use the ridiculously long shot clock to their advantage.

This team can make A LOT of noise in the tournament because they can rebound the ball. If we can get second chance points and be more efficient on offense, we can do very well in a pretty favorable bracket.

True. There are far too many lazy screens set by this team. Hornsby, and to an extent, Patterson, seem to be the only guys who know how to move away from the ball
