Do Vegas prices go down as you get closer to travel date?

Was looking to take the wife to Vegas at end of April beginning of May for her 40th, but prices are crazy! Yes we could afford it but with prices like $2800 for the both of us at someplace like the Monte Carlo are just insane. The week after they are much much lower, but we wouldn't be able to go then.

Was wondering if I should try to wait until we get closer, or start looking for other alternatives.

it's inconsistent these days - unless you wait until the VERY last minute

Something going on that week? Memorial Day isn't until the end of May, that seems bizarre prices are so much less the week after.

You talking flights or hotel?

Cheapest hotel time in Vegas is when it is hot as hell outside in the late summer/early fall.

The Venetian/Palazzo were like $130/night when we went in October (still hot as balls).

I tried looking and couldn't find anything other than some conventions, but hell they have those every weekend in Vegas.

The only thing I can think of is the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight is May 2nd. Prices are definitely very very high on a big fight weekend.

Everything.....I think we have some free tickets on her Southwest account from work I could use, but still the prices for hotels is crazy. I just looked and for 3 nights at the Stratosphere, which isn't that great is over $1000. Treasure Island is over $1500.

I'm going that weekend too, and prices shot up when the Mayweather/Pacquiao fight was announced for that Saturday.

It's all about what's happening

On the busiest times, they jack the prices through the roof.

Nascar race
NCAA tourney
Super bowl
new years
Big Rodeo Final

During the summer, it gets hot as frick and prices bottom out. Usually you can look ahead on hotels calenders and find the cheaper months.

Also, friday and saturday nights, the prices jump considerably.

Last time i was in vegas, my room tues-thurs was $119, Friday night $219, Saturday night $319. Was during the first round of tourney also.

As adhd said, you can find deals. Even the big casinos are always looking to fill rooms.

I usually go with a group of friends 2 or 3 times a year and prefer the south end of the strip from the MGM up to Caesar's Palace.
