How do you treat music written about a previous relationship when you're in a new one?

For example, you go through a bad breakup , write a bunch of really good songs, and then later meet someone else you have a serious relationship with. Do you share those songs with her? Do you just forget you ever wrote them?

Hopefully they would be mature enough to understand the things happen in life that inspire creativity.

I don't really write very many relationship related songs, but if asked about the songs I'd be honest about them. shite happens.

Maybe you don't play those songs for the new gal in private or anything, but you sure hold onto the songs and play 'em when and where appropriate. It's hard enough writing a song you really like, so when you do, you don't toss it away.

You never tell anyone what the song is about, ever.

Always let whomever is hearing it to draw their own conclusions and ideas of what it may mean.
