How true is this to you?

I'm in grad school, can afford just my necessities and a little fun stuff on the side but i don't think my life could be much better at this point

Yes, but the money also gives you more resources to solve your problems with.

I don't think I've hit that level for it to apply.

I don't have unknown relatives coming out of the woodwork, multiple paternity cases or anything like that. I'm still at the stage where more money is nothing but good.

I will say with more money comes more stuff. At some point, insuring, maintaining, repairing and caring for all kind of stuff starts to get old. You spend less time enjoying the stuff and more time overseeing it.

I guess that's the reason people "downsize" or " simplify" their life at some point.

I think it's true somewhat, however, having no or negative money would cause many problems. So there's a sweet spot.

I wouldn't say it causes more problems, just more responsibility.

not true at all.

2 years ago I had a shitty job with an old car and after paying all my bills and necessities, had a moderate amount left for fun stuff, then after that had very little to zero to actually put away for the future.

Fast forward 2 years and while I definitely am not balling by ANY stretch, I make almost double what I did then. I have a nicer vehicle, live in a better place, do anything I want as it relates to fun/going on trips, and have enough left to put in the bank and invest as well.

It's all about what lifestyle you choose, regardless of how much money you have. If you aren't obsessed with a flashy lifestyle and keeping up with the joneses, you can do just fine regardless of your income. I'd say my problems have decreased quite a bit with more money.

True. From here though. I don't think I'd adjust my lifestyle if I made more and I'd continue living how I am currently.

More money isn't a burden. What you do with it definitely can be. The more you have, the more responsibility you have.

I don't know about money. But the more shite I acquire as I grow older, the more time and money I have to spend maintaining said shite.

It's a bell curve, mo problems at the bottom of the y-axis, mo money at the far right of the x-axis.

Less money = more problems
More money = pay people to deal with your problems

More money is always better. People who disagree haven't ever been broke. By being poor, your problems are 1000x more serious. It's like having to decide which bills to pay each month vs what color car you want to buy each year

Exactly.

-Hmmm I can pay the cable bill or buy enough groceries for the week

-Hmmm looks like I may have to end up canceling the maid since the lawn service is coming more frequently with the weather heating up

you tell me which problem sounds worse

I heard a statistic once that said $70000 a year is the ideal amount of money to make in terms of happiness. Guess that makes sense but I think with a family 100k is more like it

You're both assuming the types of problems are the same. It's not like everyone has the same life, the only difference being how much money they have in checking.
