Wife wants me to consider trying Blue Apron - i'm skeptical. It is $60 for 3 meals per week with each meal serving 2 people. The ingredients are supposed to be fresh and all the spices and stuff measured out exactly for that recipe.

I find it hard to believe that this is a cost effective way to do groceries. One of us cooks almost every single night - rarely eat out.

Anyone use a service like this? Worth it?

10 bucks a person is pretty high for cooking at home

I've done it for a trial period and it was okay. Saves fighting grocery stores, but it's not just outstanding.

there is another one called "plated" that doesn't require you to buy a subscription. i think it's like 12$ per person.

some of the stuff looks good, and i can see getting it just to try a new dish and avoid having to go to the grocery on busy workdays. but i'd probably prefer to make it at home after i got the idea from plated.

shite, I feel like I spend more than I should and I'm sitting around 5 bucks a meal with the typical stuff I cook for the week.

10 bucks a person is steep.

I've been given a free trial a few times. I think the only thing I needed extra was a small amount of cooking oil for one of the meals. If you aren't picky it's a great way to try new types of food as well as teach you how to cook it. It also beats the hell out of fighting grocery stores. As far as cost effectiveness, not so much.
