How are Muck boots for busting through light brush?

Thinking of wearing my new pair of Wetlands on a quail hunt this weekend. Will the neoprene uppers hold up to some light brush work or am I inviting rips?

I own a pair of Grange and a pair of Burly for that very reason. Go ahead and use the boots that look cooler and see what happens

Seems like briars would snag and make pulls in the uppers like crazy.

I've walked through brush with wetlands without any problems. However, they cannot survive a GSP puppy

I love my muck boots but that is the one negative. The neoprene can get holes and snags easily.

That is what I was thinking. Have an old pair of LaCrosse rubbers I will probably use instead.

When I said this in the last Muck thread, everyone called me negative and got all pissed. Truth is that mucks are middle of the mall.

I haven't found a pair of rubber boots that doesn't bust at the seams or crack. Lacrosse, Muck, Kenetrek all the same.

My Grange boots are like 10 years old and I've only had one crack. That was from my dad putting them in a closet folded in half. I glued it shut. Don't leave them in the bed of your truck and they won't dry rot.

People buy Muck boots because they look snazzy. People buy LaCrosse boots because they work

1)Even if it's 30 degrees, if you're walking the whole time you will sweat like crazy

2)If there are any briars at all, you're asking for trouble with the neoprene.

Muck boots are great for some things. This is not one of them. I have a pair of thin vinyl boots I got 5 bucks from cabelas bargain cave for this exact purpose.

No. I bought muck because they're comfortable as frick and warm for still hunting with short walks into the woods on the really cold mornings.

There isn't one pair of boots good for everything. If I tried to walk the swamp or rabbit hunt in mucks it would suck. If I tried to still hunt in early january in lacrosse knee boots it would be miserable.

I mean would you walk through brush in neoprene waders? It's basically the same thing

I had grange, lasted a couple years then I got Burly lasted a couple years, now I have wetlands and they've made it a couple years.

I don't leave them in the sun or in my truck bed and they all bust at seams. Lacrosse in the heal seam and Muck in the sole. The kenetreks I bought cracked at the toe bend.

Essentially they're all the same except mucks being more expensive. I got mucks because I got them at wholesale.

I must be doing something right then. I use the Grange in the swamp because they grip the shite out of my ankles, and the Burly for most other occasions. The granges are more comfortable IMHO

The only rubber boots I've had frick up are the $5 black ones that smell like tires and the $10 shrimp boots

I keep mine all indoors, for now, and it seems to stop rubber from doing that.

Discovered the trick.

Wear tall / wading socks
Pull your brushpants cuffs down over the neoprene section
Enjoy comfortable, dry walking with no rips
