Like to be fully invested in one game at a time. Easier to keep up with and be into the story that way.

If I can actually focus on playing a game, it's usually a single player sprinkled in with the occasional mindless MP.

My habit is purchasing maybe one or two games per year actually. I usually find an upcoming game (first person shooters is where I remain), and play it until the next best thing that I want comes out.
Also, I generally stick to multiplayer with close friends. So I don't broaden my "game balance" all that much.
