This concept still confuses me. Pledging your support to a team from a league you're not familiar with, in a sport that you've admittedly just starting following, with seemingly no connection to the club itself. It never occurred to me when I started watching soccer that I had to pick a team to support.

I can understand developing an affinity for certain teams/players the more you watch them or preferring to watch certain teams over others, for whatever reason that may be. I do it. Everyone does. Arsenal is more fun to watch play soccer than Hull. It's not hard to figure out. But to decide that one club is going to be "your" club from now on. It's always seemed more enjoyable for me to just watch and enjoy the sport itself, when played at it's highest levels.

btw I mean no offense towards you with all of what I just said, honestly man. I've seen it a ton on here, and am just really more curious about it than anything. People do things differently, that how shite works. I was just kind of thinking out loud over here

I think the same as you. And like you, I totally get picking a team to follow. Just not my way.

NY would be a good choice but then you are basically choosing Man City West.

That's the funny part of us Americans picking some random team in England. A true Arsenal fan is not going to be a fan of any team in the world affiliated with its biggest rivals.

P.S. Orlando City sounds really stupid.

I recently started following the EPL as well. While I wont go out of my way to watch Hull and Aston Villa play, I try to watch if teams high in the table are playing. I like watching Liverpool so that's whom I pull for whenever they play, and the only team I can really say that I care about the outcome. I haven't "pledged" to Liverpool for the duration of time by any means, but they are the only squad I actively pull for.

That match against Man city sold me with two beautiful goals. They're just a fun club to watch and root for, for me.

Sensitive are we?

I know we soccer fans are closet Brits that want to be seen as cool. So let's do it by naming our mediocre teams "City" "FC" and United, and talking about the new "kit", the "pitch" and the "table."

And make sure to portray the "fixture" like this:

Home Team
Visiting Team

instead of the reverse like every other sport in this country.

I bet on a lot of games and it took me a while to get used to this too.

I'm the same way. I usually only pull for one team over another when I have money on the game. I don't have a favorite club at all per se (except for the USMNT), but I do have teams I prefer to watch over others. My favorite teams to watch list is constantly changing. Liverpool is currently very high up the list. They are so damn fun to watch. I just enjoy the spectacle of it all and I love watching the sport played at a really high level and the big clubs give me that.

If you want to pretend to be an Ultra, Orlando City is for you.

Just think: you could join a fan base that is feared by absolutely no one and goes around trashing random American towns that have absolutely no idea they even have a team.

Interested?

Well shite I guess we can arrange Barra Brava and the Ruckus to fight each other on Main Street in Magic Kingdom. That would be epic!
