The article is pretty long, but it's a good read. It goes into his basketball upbringing, and how it relates to his play now in regards to being a leader on this team. Yeah, it's Bleacher Report, but it's written by Ric Bucher.

Davis had been his Mr. Everything at Perspectives Charter School, and it bothers Hale that the Pelicans haven't leaned on Davis as heavily as he did. While the Pelicans used a 20-second timeout to set up a final play, Hale fired out a message on Twitter: "If AD doesn't get the ball here, everyone on the #Pelicans needs to b fired.. #nba"

So which one of you is AD's high school coach?

i actually enjoyed that article.

When Hale was talking about new orleans turning against him if we continue to not make the playoffs with him (like kevin live in MINN), i couldnt help but disagree with that.
you cant ever rely on one person to win you a championship by themself.. it will always be a team thing. and to the minnesota fans who blame KLove for their unsuccess, shame on them for being ignorant.

AD and Kevin Love are not in the same discussion as far as being a #1 and leading your team to a championship.

quote:

No matter how nice Davis might be, superstars who don't have their teams in the hunt for a title ultimately get criticized. And at some point, for all the talk about Davis' undeniably supreme talent, someone is going to raise the question:

Shouldn't a team with one of the top three players in the league at least make the playoffs?

Some executives and talent assessors in the NBA already question whether Davis can be a No. 1, as in the player who leads a team to a championship. "No. 1 talent, no question, but No. 2 or 3 as far as mentality," said one assistant GM.

"Third-best player in the league? If he's that good, he has to get his team to the playoffs and win some playoff games," said a Western Conference scout. "I don't think his stats are much different than DeMarcus Cousins'. And one of them is clearly more aggressive."

This article kind of flies in the face of what it's trying to convey they hope doesn't happen. It spends the whole time talking about him being more aggressive and then shits on NOLA at the end while talking about "unrealistic" expectations. How about writing about all of these expectations now for someone who just turned 22? It's a piece of crap to be honest. It is entertaining for the little nuggets about his upbringing but not much else.

I'll sum up the article to save everyone the time:

AD had very nice people around him, and his parents raised him right. They (coaches mostly) are beyond themselves why it's taken so long to see AD be the guy late. They say it's always been a problem for him, and he needs pushing. They talk about hoping that his perception doesn't go the way of LBJ if (very when sounding) NOLA fails like Cleveland. They don't want unrealistic expectations heaped on him, yet talk the whole article about him being the man.

Can't disagree. I skimmed through most of the bottom part talking about him needing to become more aggressive, and his expectations as it was just Bucher's opinion. Like you said, the best part were some of the stories of him growing up. I will say, though, that there is a difference between expecting him to be the go-to guy late, and expecting him to single handily winning a championship.

It doesnt matter. Thats not what I meant. Obviously Davis is better than Love.

Love was the best player on his team just like Davis is now. Both havent gone to the playoffs. Of course, Davis has only been on our team for 2 years vs. Love in Minnesota for 6 years.
