So maybe the trade wasn't about Jimmy

Appears it was more about Unger

Ian Rapoport
@RapSheet
"Wondered how the #Saints/#Seahawks trade began. Interestingly, the original target was C Max Unger. That’s who Sean Payton wanted above all"

This quote makes me think that we will take LSU Collins with our 13th pick

I feel good that payton valued a hog above a finesse player

HE GETS IT!

I actually think Collins is probably high on their board and may in fact be a target. We can draft LSU players. It will be ok.

We are building an Oline. Build it and success will come!

This quote says to me that Peyton finally realizes that we are the most successful when we can protect Brees and give him the time that he needs. This is why in 2009/11 we did not have a superstar receiver. We just had such a good line that every average receiver was sufficient

I'd absolutely love Collins at 13, a MLB at 31, and a WR at 44.

Goes with what Loomis said that the acquired pick will be to help the defense.

kind of makes it worse knowing we didn't even shop him around for better offers....oh well

I doubt they didn't feel out other offers. But if it came down to someone offering a 1 & 2 versus the Seahawks offering a top player at a position of need and a 1 then the decision is certainly understandable.

Seahawks players and fans alike don't seem pleased with the trade. Hopefully it stays that way.

And I'm not an LSU homer. I'll thak that other guard too. But I have seen Collins as the top Guard on many draft rankings

Dude only played 6 games last season and they made it to the superbowl.
I think they'll live.

Either Collins or the Sherff guy (sorry if I misspelled his name). Both of them would be fine by me.

USA Today article linked elsewhere made a good point, Brees is best when climbing pocket and driving the ball. He was moving laterally way too much this past season because the center of the line was breaking down. Throwing while rolling out is not really his bag.

Finally? We have the highest paid guard tandem in the league. Evans fell off a cliff last year

Yeah i think the hammer is going to drop on the Guard tandem soon. Evans was one of the best G's in the league at one point. Hard to see his decline happening so quickly, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on that one

Grubbs though that was a miss

Yeah, that's what we did. Took the very first offer.

Your panic over this trade has been hilarious coupled with your complete lack of knowledge regarding pro football

Well he didn't play very well when we played Seattle so I guess they don't think very highly of him. Either that or they really loved what Unger brings to the table. I like the second option.
