Enemy Mine or The Last Starfighter - which do you prefer?

It's kind of strange that I always group these two movies together in my head. Other than the fact that they both deal with space and they both feature a reptilan/humanoid character, they are really quite different movies.
I think Enemy Mine is the more serious movie. Plus it has one of my favorite lines ("All Hail the Great God MickyMouse"). And Quaid and Gossett do good jobs with their roles.
But on the other hand, The Last Starfighter has a great role by Robert Preston. Plus it also had a pretty good quote: ("I've always wanted to fight a desparate battle against incredible odds"). And Catherine Mary Stewart was not too hard on the eyes.

They are two completely different viewing experiences in my opinion.

I just remember being amazed at those awesome computer graphics in the Last Starfighter

Starfighter. Easily.
Louis Gosset, Jr as a hermaphroditic alien was just too disturbing.

Yeah why do we have to choose?
And in a world of reboots, where's my Last Starfighter one?

Yeah, completely different movies really. I preferred the last starfighter though.

Enemy mine had the more notable Pepsi placement.

I like both but prefer the last starfighter .. The whole idea of mastering a video game as a test fascinated me as a kid.
Enemy mine had more mature tone that didn't resonate with me as much but watching in later years shows a deeper story than starfighter.

I'm not asking anyone to choose to watch only one. Just trying to get a little discussion going regarding two oldie but goodie movies I enjoyed.

Fair enough. I'm Last Starfighter all the way. Cool and pretty smart concept as the video game age was starting to really explode.
I remember watching Enemy Mine a couple of times but only remember LGjr having the baby.

Premise of TLS was pretty cool. A video game was actually a training program

Yeah. And I think a method of identifying the best Starfighter talent. I guess the kid from the trailer park was the equivalent of a 5 starrecruit.

This.
Enemy Mine is kind of fascinating. And we'll never see a movie like that again.
The Last Starfighter is a GOAT kids movie for me. Still own it.

Sure we will. It was a remake of Hell in the Pacific albeit with a happier ending.
Someone will remake it again at some point.

It seems like it was kind of a precursor to something like Avatar (though I guess maybe Dances with Wolves was the real precursor to that). Learning about an enemy's culture and all that.

I love Robert Preston. He's one of my favorite older actors. Because of him I bet I was the only boy in West Monroe who watched The Music Man and Victor Victoria on the reg.
Also he makes The Last Starfighter that much better.
