Does your boxer rub it's chin on the carpet or other surfaces a lot?

Not a lot but he def gets a scratch here and there and isn't afraid to nose dive on the rug
I'm guessing I'll be visiting the vet this weekend just to be safe

Raised. Bump irregular in shape. Looks growth-esque and who knows how long it's been there just noticed it today. About the size of a dime. He's 2.5 year old boxer. Wondering if a vet visit is needed off seeing just a simple picture.
Had two friends this week have their dogs undergo surgery for cancer so go figure I'd find this today
I treat cancers in canines, and early detection is the only way to get the best response to treatment. So, take him to the Vet soon (although, it is not something that needs to be done ASAP. This weekend or next week, or even the next should be fine, but sooner rather than later).
Other than that, it is pretty hard to determine anything from a picture. Could be amelanotic melanoma, squamous cell carcinoma, histiocytic... or just a benign bump. A biopsy is the only way to tell.
Until then, do some research or just wait to see the Vet.
Top Ten Boxer Bumps.
Boxers Grow Lumps and Cancer Better Than Any Other Breed of Dog. But if you live with a Boxer, you probably already know this!

Considering the breed, age, and occasional nose diving in the rug it is most likely what we refer to as chin furunculosis. Basically a really angry ingrown hair on the chin secondary to trauma and inflammation to the superficial layers of the skin surrounding the hair. Very common in boxers and other short or bristle coated breeds. The great dane and pitbull are other prime examples for this.
However (this is the disclaimer part), since I obviously can't see/examine/test it in person I'd say there is chance for benign growth and very low chance for cancer. As a fellow boxer owner/lover I keep a constant state of paranoia about them. If you don't know that boxers are predisposed to cancer, well, you do now (and should know anyway). Best have your vet do a quick check as you've already indicated.

my boxer used to get pimples that looked something like that after chewing on something hard or some sharp plastic like an empty water bottle.

That's nothing. I know people who have dropped THOUSANDS on treatments for old dogs.
I took one of my hunting dogs in once for a skin infection related to some bacteria out of the dirt. Vet told me "it will be $1,500 for the meds" and I immediately said "well he is going to die then."
Went home and Googled the disease. Damn human antibiotics will cure it. Got my doc to write a scrip and got the meds for $65 at the pharmacy. Done and done.

Oh, i know the shite gets expensive. We had to pay for knee surgery last February, the dog was climbing down the steps and slipped on the ice and tore the patella muscle off the bone. was about $1500 for everything.
