nd if the roles were reversed would people be in here discounting LSU's performance by saying that Tenn. lost the game? Hell no, everyone would be in here talking about how great LSU was last night.

No because LSU is the better team. When you get your arse whooped by a bad Tenn team at home with the product we put on the floor last night you damn right we lost that game because of horrible play on both sides of the ball. It's your job with everything on the line at the PMAC in your last home game to not let Tenn do what they did. So to answer your question no nobody would say Tenn played bad because they are bad!

It seems like he's unwilling to admit we simply were outplayed and out-coached....

It seems like that is exactly what he is doing. You don't have to trash the players to get across the point that you were outplayed. Him praising Tenn is him telling you that we were outplayed.

Johnny has plenty of faults. This is not one of them. I'd much rather a coach lay into his players behind closed doors than to the media.

When Tenn stretched the lead in the 2nd half they were doing a little bit of everything. They were hitting long jump shots, making difficult and contested lay ups, continually beating guys off the dribble and even posting up the LSU bigs on a few possessions.

If I had to critique LSU, the areas I would point out would be rebounding and not being able to handle the traps when Tenn played zone.

Alt26-I think you are missing the point. LSU lost the game because of LACK of hustle, intensity, effort and FUNDAMENTALS. While Tenn. won on the scoreboard, they had a great deal of help from LSU. This game wasn't about what Tenn did, it was all about what LSU didn't do. Plain and simple.

I personally have never had a problem with a coach stating the obvious when a player didn't perform well. It's pretty easy to tactfully do it without catching a ton of crap from the fanbase. "Player x didn't play his best game." We all know what he's capable of. We see it every day in practice. Tonight just wasn't his night."

If they weren't ready for the trap, then there is no doubt where that failing lies

Just an opinion... Seems and sounds like he's not an X's and O's guy. He's a recruiter, a verbal leader, and motivator, but not a type of coach or personality type like Caliperi or Saban. I don't mind it as much for basketball because I'm not an X's and O's fan of LSU basketball. I appreciate that we're winning under him, and that he can recruit and is building a nice class for next year.

That said, I'm AM an X's and O's guy for football, and I appreciated the hell out of Saban's focus on strategy and would like us to run a cleaner offense (which I think, and have heard from players, is from Miles getting in Cam Cameron's way much of the time). And I think Johnny Jones is like Miles in that he isn't as critical of the game as a whole because he doesn't notice as much. He's not picking it apart he's more of a motivator. So, I can appreciate fans' frustration. A lot of my friends are frustrated.

An aside: I am pretty tired of people hating on some fans by saying they're fair weather fans and tell them to sit back and enjoy us winnning more games than in the past, or usual, or compared to other programs. I'd argue the more you understand the game the more you notice and are unsatisfied with mediocrity, and the more just winning games because of talent isn't as satisfying. Actually, it can be more frustrating to see it go to waste. Doesn't mean you're a crappy LSU fan, just means you're a fan of the sport.
