I was saying I don't know how to tie any that are quicker. My knot repertoire is limited.

That's a strange knot. Hard to follow the video since I have no volume, so not sure what the advantage is.

You can tie a palomar quicker than a clinch? Dang son

If it's the only knot you use, the answer is yes.

I said the same exact thing when I saw that video. But I just tried it a couple times and didn't slip or break with pulling. It definitely seems too easy to be good, but I'm going to try it out this weekend. It's exactly what I'm looking for and why I started this thread. I'm looking for a knot that doesn't cinch down on the hook like the Palomar so that I can get more action out of my lures.

I tie a uni and cinch it a bit away from the hook. Works well with Rapalas.

Well what happened?

straight braid to topwater gets tangled in the hooks way too much- whereas with mono you may get the line snagged on a treble and be able to shake it out, with braid its usually wrapped around multiple hooks and there's not a chance in hell of being able to shake those snags loose.

More PITA than its worth, especially when a short mono leader will all but solve that issue.

Now in regards to frogs, I can see tying braid straight there. When I think of topwaters, I am referring to the walk the dog types- spooks, skitterwalks, shedogs, etc.

Really? I use braid almost exclusively (99+% of the time) and can't think of more than once or twice that this happened to me.....strange.

dude, I would need my readers to tie that thing, I am pretty sure I would only thread it thru that overhand knot correctly 1 out of 87 times.

The only knot I really care about is using a snell when flipping and pitching. Any other application I'll tie polomar or trilene. If you check your line frequently for bad spots you won't break fish off. I haven't had a fish break my line in over 5 years. I use #20 floro when fishing soft plastic. #15 mono for cranks/spinnerbaits/most topwater #50 braid when flipping and pitching or throwing a frog. #12 mono for smaller cranks.

Why so heavy on the soft plastic? Not bashing, legitimately curious. I've never spooled with fluoro before but am not totally opposed to it. I usually use 12# mono on my soft plastics.

I do the exact same for everything else you posted though

Flouro is invisible underwater so the fish can't see it anyway plus it's not as abrasion resistant as mono so it's much easier to get weak spots if your not careful. In case it gets a bad spot #12 could become #6 while #20 might only become #12. It also has less stretch than mono so you get a better hookup rate and more sensitivity. Now I use the expensive seaguar invisx stuff but if you use KVD line and lure spray it last a long time. I last spooled my flouro setup over a year ago and the line is still strong and cast extremely well and I fish at least once a week. You have to treat the line every so often though or it gets hard to handle. The majority of my friends fish with smaller line but I seem to have just as much success and I never break fish off.

Wait until you cast it. My fluoro is the big lie thread should be stickied.

Do you just coat the whole spool with the spray? I just bought some to use on YoZuri Hybrid and Sunline Supernatural mono.
