yes....5 days is too long....I can only think of one thing you can do maybe the Valley of the Caddo Museum...maybe the Maxey house too. don't know much about louver, versailles, and normandy...maybe that is where the girls shop.

Also, do ALOT of reasearch on things like yelp before you go to figure out where you want to eat when you visit certain attractions. There are some real dumps....Just like you don't want to venture to NOLa and eat at Bubba Gump Shrimp, you don't want to get taken there either.

Some of my favorites were

Polidor

Cafe Constant

Mont St. Michel was pretty cool too.

If I remember correctly it seems it was so commercialized. There were vendors all over the place selling stuff.

If you are you are interested in WWI and WWII, the French army museum is connected to Napoleon's tomb. It is a great museum I am interested in it and could have spent hours in there the wife...not so much.

You don't even NEED a full day in the Louvre. It's cool and all, but after a while, unless you are really into it, it all starts to seem the same.

The military museum and Napoleon's tomb was much better. As somewhat of a history fan it blew my mind to stand exactly where this picture was taken. (Hitler standing at Napoleons tomb)

Oh, also seeing the tower from the Trocodaro is very cool. if you want to see the light show at night, this was my favorite place. On sunday there are tons of musicians and artsists, etc

One thing I wasn't prepared for was how late it stayed light (we went in May). It didn't get get dark until about 10 pm when we went and alot of stuff stays open till like 9pm or later. Pic below was taken at 9:45 pm.

After a full day of site seeing and wlaking around, we would eat dinner around 7 pm, them be hungry again at like 11 pm. So each night we sat on our balcony (which was across the street from Notre Dame) and drank wine, ate cheese and bread baked that day and talked till probably 2 or 3 am. Every. Single. Night.

When you buy wine, do not think you need to buy expensive wine for it to be good. Yes, you can always spend more but even their low end Bordeaux and Beaujolais is good

I'm saying under $7/$8 per bottle. This is not an exxageration, wine is cheaper than soft drinks over there (Coke / Coke Light aka Diet Coke)

Thanks I feel a lot better about spending 5 days there.

BTW ill be in Europe for about 30 days. Landing in Madrid then heading to Paris asap and starting there. then to Italy, Croatia then back to Spain. Should I add a flight to Istanbul for a couple days? I would like to spend a lot of time in Florence, Rome, Pompeii, Posatano. And a good bit of time in Croatia as well. And then finish in spain where my flights is. If I go to Istanbul it will take away from the others, so is it worth it and if so were should I take the bullet.

Outside of The Louvre, Notre Dame, The Eiffel Tower and Versailles, it blows dick. It's dirty, stinks and Parisians suck. It was by far my least favorite part of my European trip.

ETA: I'll say this. Don't let Parisians ruin your opinion of the French. The French are incredibly nice and hospitable people. Parisians are totally different from the rest of the country.

That's about how long I spent at The Louvre. It's an incredible place. I wish I could go back there because even after spending two days there, I didn't see close to all they had to offer.
