Long time lurker, first time poster, so take it easy on me.

I have the capability of hitting golf shots, just not consistently. My biggest problem is getting off the box. Right now, I'm hitting a cookie cutter x-stiff 9.5 degree Optiforce. What is the opinion of the OT on the importance of getting custom fitted for driver. Who do ya'll recommend?

Swing speed- 112mph
Avg off the box- 5000 yards into the woods (edited for the complete jackasses who don't understand sarcasm)

If you straighten it out, it's prob a 360-370 yard drive.

It can make a big difference if you don't have the right flex shaft for your swing speed.

If you have a 112mph swing speed then you def need a stiff shaft which you have.

Your problem is not your clubs. It's your alignment and stance being off. Get lessons and save on the clubs.

Or just get a full length mirror and watch how your lining up (shoulders, hips, feet all square). Fitted clubs can make you more consistent, but if you're slicing or pulling balls in the woods it's not your clubs.

Why not get fitted for all of your clubs? Drive for show, putt for dough as they say.

You'd do better putting your money into lessons.

It's as important as getting fitted for your other clubs and it's FREE.

There are some knowledgeable people at some Edwin Watts, Golfsmith etc.

I feel like I am never comfortable at address (not just my driver). Ive used the alignment sticks and smash but cant transfer it to the course. I've taken a few lessons (how I know my swing speed), have a few V1 videos of my swing, Ive even videoed myself. Just cant put it together for a round.

I hit the Nike Vapor Flex Flight and the Callaway BB at the Island Saturday. Loved the smaller club head on the flex flight, but couldn't bring myself to pay $500 for a stock set up.

They are having one at David Toms' 265 next Wednesday from noon-6:00. I plan on checking it out...don't need any new clubs right now, just want to hit with some of the latest models.
