The Elliot that was across from where I grew up(may still be there) required no care at all. My dad did halvsies with the owner.

You are interfering with my attempt to make everyone as lazy as me.

Thanks for all the info fellas. I have a cousin who has a shaker and picker. So pretty much profit, unless you count the heavy arse note for this place.....

I've got 4 big pecan trees in my yard, and last year got ZERO good pecans. A lot fell off real early and they were all rotten.
Of course I did no maintenance, but you could go in the hood and see the limbs dragging the ground. Maybe this year.

If you hire a company to come and spray your trees and harvest your pecans they will take 50% of your harvest. But you pay for the spraying. If you pick yourself.....well u end up making about 50 cents per hour. we have 44 trees and make somewhere between negative 200 dollars to 2500 dollars per year. Like most crops it boils down to a gamble on the price of pecans, and your quality. Of course if you went to the extent of itemizing all the expenses and labor and etc on your taxes you may end up making a little more.

We have about 30 trees. Past few years we just disked under them all and planted rye grass and weren't too concerned with profit. A few have quit producing and we looked into replacing them and adding about 20 more trees.

I was gonna get o pull behind picker upper like this

Was told that selling them like this, uncleaned, would only get me .40 a pound where going halves with someone that has the machinery would bring $1.40 a pond.
