Anyone have one of these? I'm about to do a major remodel and we're replacing everything in the kitchen. We're most likely doing a Thermador gas cooktop and wall oven with the microwave/convection oven on top of it, but I don't know anyone that's got one. My biggest question is not about the microwave function, but does the convection work well. More importantly, can it be used similar to a toaster oven for quick toasting, etc.

We got one a couple years ago. It takes a while to heat up, longer than a countertop toaster oven, and you have to put a special wire rack in it for convection use.

I know people who say they love theirs, and I thought we would use it a lot, but we really don't use it much at all.

Don't think it's going to be as quick as a regular toaster oven.

I really don't see a use for it.

I had one in my last house...had it seven years before I used it once. It didn't cook the dish as well as a regular oven. Good in a pinch I guess but wouldn't add one again.

The inlaws have had one in there house for at least a decade.

Think they have used it twice as something other than a microwave.

I had an advantium oven in my last house. While it was working it worked well but when it finally went out it was too much money to replace and the hole that it left was very difficult to fill with a traditional microwave.

I had to order a custom trim kit to fill the space which was a pain in the arse.

Just get a regular MW and toaster oven and you would be better off in my opinion.

The more I read, the more I think that's what I'm going to do.

I think we're going with a 36" Thermador gas cooktop and one of their double ovens. I'll buy a cheap toaster and microwave we can hide in a cabinet and save about $1k. The microwave/convection is $899 with a $350 trim kit. And we get a free dishwasher with the cooktop and oven from Thermador.

They have a new steam convection oven, but the damn thing is $3k and it's not much bigger than the microwave/convection oven. The guy tried to sell us up on that, but I had to talk some sense into my wife, who wanted it.
