It will be interesting to see if the type of picks change with new personnel in the draft room. Along with many here, I would like to see a bit more of game ready players. That is, less players we might call a project or developmental. Every pick after Cooks was in that direction last year IMO.

Scanning the Payton era picks... good ones and bad ones of those types...

the good ones
2006
Evans
Ninkovich (for the Pats)
Strief
Colston
2007
Bushrod
David Jones (played elsewhere)
2008
Nicks
2010
Jimmy Graham
2012
Hicks
White
2013
Armstead
Stills
Jenkins on the fence for me

the bad ones
2007
Meachem (for a #27 pick)
Usama
2008
Pressley
2009
Jenkins- I hated the "he'll be a good safety" line
Vaughn
Arnoux
2010
Robinson- a 1st Rd pick yer not sure if ya want around after 5 years
Charles Brown- I thought this one was gonna payoff
2011
Johnny Patrick
Martez Wilson- another I thought would work out
Romeus- tho it didnt work, it was still a good 7th Rd risk IMO
2012
Toon- still hoping but only 21 catches in 3 yrs, 14 last yr
2014- all of'em after Cooks

I was going to post about this actually.

I would like to see more players that produced in college, that played multiple years and were healthy. I'd like to see less chances and gambles on injured players or "talent" with little production.

I'll take solid.

And ease up on the "our kind of guy" picks. Translates to often as a OK player but a really great locker room.

I think we could handle just a couple of rabid animals.

Usama

He had a few good years for Clev, but looks like he started to tail off after that. Now he's in Oak, and that's never good for anyone.
