This is probably a somewhat worn out topic but now that some time has passed and nothing seems to be on the horizon for it, do you guys think a deal will ever be made with the NCAA or is this pretty much done due to their rules?

I loved the old NCAA games and there would obviously be a huge following if someone was able to step up and make it happen on next gen consoles.

That's probably a good idea to break out something random like that. I never had a SEGA but I have quite a few of the EA version on 360 and PS2.

Unfortunately the graphics on my XONE have spoiled me. I gave Madden a shot but I just can't get into NFL games at all.

Good ole offseason football withdrawals...

I believe there's too much money to be made for both parties so yes. There's plenty of ways to avoid player likeness and I expect an agreement to be made in the future.

How long from today is the better question if you ask me

I break out College Hoops 2K8, NCAA Football 04,07,2014 all the time.

Between those games and MVP Baseball I can't get enough.

I agree theres a ton of cash to be made, and if a company could strike a deal and do a good job I imagine it would fly off the shelves just like always.

Was the problem that EA was making the player likenesses too close or that people were custom making rosters and players as they saw fit? I would think any dedicated football fan would make their custom rosters regardless of what the NCAA thinks, unless that feature was taken out.

I think there will be. Like one of the posters above me said, they could just make a game without using any player's likeness. If LSU has a 6'0" black QB, then give us a 6'5" white guy in the game. Then recruiting players is just completely random CPU generated. And they could just give us the usual ability to edit rosters to individual preferences.

Besides, I, and I assume many others, just really like the gameplay of dynasty and "campus legend" or whatever it is, where having accurate rosters didn't make that much difference. Loved recruiting against friends and competing against them for the heisman/national championship. If you play any of those game modes long enough all the "real" players graduate at some point anyway. I just miss those game modes and Madden doesn't come close to replicating how fun they were.

Either that or the NCAA allow players to get paid and then maybe a company can afford to cut players in on a portion of the profits. If an NCAA was released for next-gen it would sell like hot cakes, no doubt.

I try to play Madden but it just doesn't have the same magic that NCAA had.

EA was making players that were clearly their real life counterparts. I seem to remember they even ended up getting caught using real names as placeholders when they were creating players during programming. The NCAA didn't help with their piss poor arguments as to why this wasn't a likeness issue.

I hope it comes back though. I'm also one of those people that just can't get into NFL football games the way I can college.

Hopefully if a new game is ever made we can get back to having full control of the schedules, be able to create new and/or completely kill conferences, set up a playoff or bowl system the way you want, and a build a stadium feature for created teams.

Full control of scheduling is a must though. It drove me crazy that the last several games wouldn't even let you change if a conference game was home or away let alone change the dates or teams you were playing.

The year Ryan Perriloux was a freshman, I edited the lsu roster to have all the correct names. Nessler would say Perriloux everytime I dropped back to pass. Now I get Smith, Thompson, Williams. But how many Perrilouxs do you know outside of Louisiana?

Well, I would argue that the NCAA will cease to run the 5 power conferences within the next 15 years, so the players won't fall under NCAA rules.

It is all up to the NCAA and conferences as this point. EA was prepared to pay players for their likeness in games. However, NCAA would not let them. This was after the lawsuit. So it is all NCAA's fault right now.

While I'm sure I would still buy it and play it the fact that it had the real roster on it was a huge selling point to me so I disagree

If they give you the option to import a roster created by a fellow user it would become a non issue.

Guys from operation sports would have the roster details already prepped and ready for editing by release of the game.

Which means you'd have real rosters within a couple of days of buying the game..a good month before the season begins.

Oh yea, that would be fine. I just figured if EA (or whoever) weren't gonna imitate the real rosters they would eliminate the ability for someone to do that since they would essentially still be making money off the player's likenesses

Yeah like the next poster said I'm assuming you could edit your roster to your liking anyway. I just mean if EA can get around the "player's likeness" issue and bring back the beloved game modes like dynasty that would be a good start. They don't even have to call it NCAA '15 or whatever... just release a game called "Football" that has 120 random teams and give me the ability to create a school/stadium with a purple and gold color scheme and roster editing ability and I'm good to go

NCAA 08, pre online competitive dynasty mode, I had a 25 man class, 24 of which were 5 star recruits. For SMU. I think out of like 31 total 5 star players, I got 24. I miss those games so bad. I loved turning 1 star shite prestige programs into powerhouses.

Same. In the beginning you have to work so hard just to get 3* recruits who end up feeling like studs compared to your shite roster. Then one day, you get that first 5* dual threat QB and he turns your program around single-handedly So gratifying

Oh another thing, if/when they bring it back, for the love of God PLEASE FIX THE SHITTY MENU SCREENS!

Holy hell it was so annoying that the last several games all had a very noticeable delay from when you hit the button to when whatever you clicked came up. It fricking ruined recruiting for me to waste so much time waiting for the damn screens to load. Simply scrolling through all the different options in the dynasty mode was awful an I ended up not even using most of them b/c I wanted to do shite instead of wait to see things like fake rankings, how the boosters felt about my performance, etc etc take their sweet time to load.
