I thought that he was just hitting it and was amazed when it found Porter in stride.

Yeah, think the Galaxy way back--Cobi Jones days. Maybe DC United. Not entirely sure but at least one team has won it
ETA: Both won the Champions Cup. CL is a continuation of that.

Yeah. This year I believe that the winner was placed into a play-in game w/the CAF CL winner (could have been AFC), then lost to Real Madrid in Real Madrid's first game.
Can't remember if that's constant, but the CCL team plays at least one more game before playing against the UEFA or CONMEBOL representative
