Texans ownership and front office is the fricking worst.

I said last year at this time the Texans should trade andre with the pats for Mallet. Mallet would have had a full preseason and could have started from day 1, for better or worse the Texans would have known what they had as a QB

the problem with that is, the Texans would have had to take a massive cap hit and given NE's record of paying no one except Brady, i doubt they would have taken on Andre's contract as it was.

The front office has made plenty of mistakes, but this is not one of them.

I'm the opposite. I grew up a Saints fan and they will always be #1, with really no #2. I've lived in Washington for years and could not be more ambivalent about the Redskins.

And it's actually 12 seasons, not 13. So more impressive.

Carr and Dre were playing on the Texans at the same time?

Edit: NM, Dre came in 03 - doesn't seem that long though

It's crazy to try to imagine Andre Johnson's numbers had he played with a quality quarterback his entire career.

kige

dunno who down-voted you - there's not one quarterback in that list NFL WRs would be excited to play with.

Do the Pats have a billion draft picks this year like they usually do?

This seems like a Pats type of signing, a malcontent that people think is over the hill, goes to the Pats and balls out.

Does anyone think Carolina might make a run at him?

I don't, but it would be worth a shot...

Not sure why you would try this hard to make Andre Johnson go away

quote:

Andre Johnson says he "laughed at" Bill O'Brien after the Texans' coach recently informed him he would only catch around 40 balls if Johnson returned to the team in 2015. "They gave me my role, and I just laughed at them," Johnson said. "How do you tell a guy who is used to catching 80 balls a year that he was going to catch 40?" O'Brien also told Johnson he "wasn't even likely to be a starter" in 2015. "So I was real honest with him: 'If that's your role for me, you're going to be dealing with a miserable football player,'" Johnson told O'Brien. Johnson is expected to be cut or traded in the next few days.

Not really. They've done a lot of trading last year and the year before that's left the stock a little bare

Until they trade out of the first and pick up 4 picks of course

Not really important though, Johnson won't be traded. they'll just cut him

I somehow doubt that is exactly what BOB told him, I mean they could just cut him for cap reasons, that happens all the time.

I mean, yea they probably should. But as you mentioned he's likely tired of playing with mediocre quarterbacks.

You shouldn't have to. I understood from your first comments what was going on.

I am fans of teams from places I didn't grow up in or I don't live in now.

I grew up in Texas and am a huge Cowboys fan. I grew up a Rockets fan but moved to Connecticut and only stuck with the Cowboys. I've picked up basketball here in New Orleans since I moved here right when Hornets turned into Pels. Seemed like a good time to be a fan.

So here I am a Cowboys fan who loves New Orleans Pelicans. Different sports, but still the same general idea.

No kidding. He's been a model player and citizen. Quiet, stays out of trouble, always works hard and has endured many awful years with Houston.

Even if you want him to be the #2 guy and only catch 40 balls, why tell him that? It can't hurt to have him around

I don't remember what it's like to have 2 WRs over 6'2 on the field at the same time

Yeah the way the Texans have handled him is terrible. If their plan was to phase him out this quickly then they should have traded him last season and gotten something for him. Now they are going to get nothing for him because everyone knows if they just wait he will be a FA.

Why they would tell him he may not even be a starter next year is the dumbest thing I've heard a coach do. Who are they going to have be the WR2? It's not like they have a whole lot of young WR depth that he's road blocking.

Good luck to Dre and I hope he gets him a ring before he hangs it up. He's always been a class act.

Campbell, Ryan, Dream, now Andre finishing with other teams. This is Houston sports.

The owner and GM are too nice to tell that to Andre. They had to get the new, tough coach with no attachment deliver the message, however dumb the 40 catch message was. Time to let Rick Smith fall on the next sword.

BO'B is the perfect hire for the Texans, an organization with no balls, until now.
