Pretty sure they now have a nice new corner of the Barnes and Noble building.

It burned down. That's why the campus was moved to Baton Rouge

This doesn't necessarily answer your questions, but Kirby, Miller, Herget, and McVoy are slated for demolition within the next 5 years. That will probably be the biggest demo in a while. Lockett and Middleton need to be bulldozed, too. The entire art center can go, along with the Forestry Building.

Those buildings are all an embarrassment to architecture. You should add the dairy store to this list also

I'm beginning to understand the European saying, "Americans think a 30 year old building is old".

I find it hilarious that our Horticulture building looks like an abandoned piece of shite from the street because of the weeds and shite growing in front of it.

Herget is ~50-60, I believe. Not sure about the others, but they're probably pushing that as well. It's not necessarily old, but LSU has done such a shite job with maintenance that a complete redo is necessary. They could build one monster dorm in the spot of Miller, Herget, and McVoy.

Does anyone know if any buildings are left of LSU's original Baton Rouge Campus where the state capital is now?

The journalism building was originally downtown and named Alumni Hall. In 1934 they dismantled it and brought it to the new campus. Looks like they changed the roof to match the rest of the new campus.

Wow, I'm stunned LSU is going to demolish them instead of renovating. I applaud the move, but it's surprising nonetheless

you're right about Middleton and Lockett too. I do know the only plans for Middleton are to renovate the interior within the next 2-3 years

I feel for the freshmen that enter the years this is going on. There is no way LSU can relocated nearly a thousand people with their current plans.

The old one-story lab school elementary burned down (1970s) and was replaced with a two-story building (1980s). The Panhellenic Building was deemed not worth updating and torn down (1980s). The old Sigma Pi house burned down (1980s)and was removed (1990s). I think the Lambda Chi Alpha building was completely replaced after its fire (1980s) as well, even though its current house looks essentially the same. The Phi Kappa Theta chapter was kicked off campus (1990s), and the Catholic Student Center was expanded over where its old house used to be (2000s). The old Alpha Tau Omega house didn't meet fire codes and was demolished (2000s). The old Alex Box Stadium was deemed obsolete and torn down (2000s). They were supposed to be tearing down and replacing an old house on sorority row right about now.

From what I read in the Reveille article, the renovations and new dorms will take place over the next 10 years. I won't be some massive overhaul over 2 years

I think Evangeline is next up for renovations
