Short of trading for Cutler (they don't want him) or trading up for Winston (they can't get him), there aren't really any good options out there.

I suppose. This move just seems to be pointless. Hoyer and McCown are both mediocre, so they're trading mediocre for mediocre.
Why not just find a backup for Hoyer (assuming the worst about JFF) and focus on finding some weapons at WR?
