I see a white/gold dress transform into a baby blue/light brown dress. At first, the transformation took awhile. Now, I'm to the point where the dress literally changes from white to blue when I focus on it.

It won't change back though, have to look away for 15-20 min

Ditto. But I'm done. ... And whomever started this shite needs an arse kicking.

Yes I know how to use photoshop, I took 2 years of photography in high school and we were on it all day. Why do you ask? Are you gonna show me that the black is brown again? I know that and I've given the explanation as to why about 5 fricking times. Here's the 6th time. Lighting conditions and Instagram filters. Now Jesus fricking Christ will you acknowledge my points instead of deflecting?

Correct if you adjust the white-balance accordingly. Did you do that? If not then it does not correct for incorrect ambient light whatsoever. If you did then it should look like this.

Yes, and it will give you whatever the lighting has changed the color to look like. Of course, black with sun shining on it doesn't look deep black, but as humans we can perceive that it is.
You're wrong dude. It's ok.

Again, put it in there with different brightness settings and report back.

If you see black and not gold, you are letting the gray/blue affect you. Its ok. Studies have shown that people who more susceptible to optical illusions have a smaller visual cortex in the brain.

Right. Me being able to deduce that the dress is in fact the actual color that it is, despite being in a filtered photo, is definitely an optical illusion. Keep telling yourself that.

I'm so glad my eyes and brain are actually able to perceive an object as it truly is.

Some peoples brains are fooled so easily. To the point they have to depend on a computer to give them an answer.

Not sure if anyone has posted a plausible explanation but reddit has what seems to be a believable one.

quote:

Hi! me and some other grad students have been discussing this for the last half hour. It's likely due to some kind of colour constancy illusion, where some people are perceiving the context to be something like "lit by blueish daylight" and others are perceiving it to be something like "under yellow department store lights." In the former case, your brain will try and get the objective (if such a thing can be said) colour by subtracting out the blue as a shadow, and in the latter case it will do the same thing for the filigree by subtracting out the yellow as a reflection. This is a common illusion in psych : See here. but it's not seen that often 'in the wild,' even though your brain does this constantly.

That was weird, I squinted until it turned black and blue and then it stayed that way for a second after releasing squint and went back to gold/white. I see dead people.
