I'd rather a 7-seed San diego St, then play Villanova in the second round. Opposed to A&M who has Ohio State 1st round, then Kentucky 2nd

My point is that some of these 6 & 7 seeds are going to be no joke, and could potentially become bad matchups for us.

How about we root for LSU to win every game that they play and leave it to the committee to decide what seed we will have...and then root for them to win every game in the tourney.

I not rooting for LSU to lose so we get a worse seed..that's just stupid.

And if you used reading comprehension, I said specifically I don't want them to lose. But if you're good enough to be an 8 seed and you're a 10 seed, that's a huge advantage

Not really. It just means that you avoid the "giant" in the first weekend of the tournament.

Actually, the number show that if the #8 gets by the #1, they have a good chance at going deep into the tournament. In tournament history #8 seeds have a winning record against every other seed but #1's and 3 & 12 seeds in a very small sample size (0-2 vs. 3 seeds; 0-1 vs. 12 seeds)

Conversely, a 10 seed has never made it to the Final Four and the only seeds 10's have winning records against are 14 and 15.

11 seeds have been pretty good at beating #1 seeds if they get to that point (which is always in Elite 8) winning 50% of the time. The problem is that in addition to having losing records against 6 seeds, they don't fare very well against 2's and 3's at all.

All of this "fear" of the 8 seed goes back to LSU in 2009. The problem wasn't that LSU had to play the #1 seed right away, it's that they had to play the best #1 seed that year. Remember, for as good as that 2009 team seemed to be they only beat 2 teams all season who made it to the NCAAT (1 was a weak Miss. St. team who only made it because they shockingly won the SECT). For all of this team's inconsistency, sloppy play, dumb decisions, NO ONE, not event he clear best team in the country has been able to soundly beat LSU. This group is the potential "A" student who is just happy to make "C's" if he doesn't have to try. On the occasions they are motivated this team can be hell to play

.Does anybody really want to get an 8/9 seed? I want to do everything we can to get a 10/11

12 is ok too, even the 12-12 game.

play the 5, then the 4/13 winner.

8/9 is horrible. even game and then #1 would be Wisconsin or Virginia. wisconsin can rebound with M and M, and actually run plays the last 2 minutes of the game.

Agreed.

All this hand-wringing about what seed we want and who we play in the second round is just silly.

Just play hard, try to win every game, and we'll get seeded wherever we get seeded. Higher seeds have an easier first round game, and I wouldn't spend one iota of evergy worrying about our second round game.

Jeez, let's just get in the damn tournament with the highest seed possible.
