I asked Joe Lunardi what LSU needed to do to make tourney he said avoid bad losses. He said as long as LSU only losses to teams that will be in the field they'll be fine.

Translation beat Tenn and whoever we play first in the SEC tourney. Anything after that is lagniappe.

He also said he see's LSU as somebody who can really do some damage once they get in.

Sounds about right. We have the talent to compete with anyone. Just gotta make sure we don't get complacent.

Yeah, beating Tennessee and our first SECT opponent would probably be enough. I'd like to add a win over Ole Miss just to feel safe, though.

Totally agree

Throw in a W against Arkie and the tournament may not be as crucial.

So you think this team gets in with a 10-8 conference record? Yeah rt.

And really should be shameful, one game improvement from last season?

The win over WV is huge. It's possible the committee takes into account that every game we've lost we were tied or winning with under 4 min left and could very easily have only 3 or 4 losses. Also the sec is getting a lot more respect than in past years

No, Lunardi thinks this, not me. His opinions mean a lot more than mine do.

That would definitely be cutting it close. And it's not like Joe's never been wrong before. LSU needs to go ahead and win their two home games so there's nothing to worry about.

translation, the guard play is so bad with the game on the line that LSU will be squeezed like a grape when they are playing well coached upperclass teams in the NCAA.

posters saying beat Ole Miss have it right. You can't count on winning in the SECt. Everyone in the tournament knows that if they win it they are in. Its SOOO exciting. UConn a couple of years ago had to win 4 in a row night after night, and they did it and won it all. Whomever LSU plays in the first round will know that history. Their coach will tell them.

truth is, its time to treat every game like a tournament game.
Ole Miss will. Remember Ole Miss is bucking for a seed too.
Ole Miss is a 7 right now in Lunardi. If Ole Miss wins out and wins a couple in the SECt, they can be a 5 and play harvard and then a 4 seed, instead of what they would be facing as a 7. A 7 plays the 2 in the round of 32.

So... coach says to Ole Miss, whip this LSU team and get that 5 seed and you will not see a highly ranked team until the SWEET SIXTEEN.

which means teams in the second weekend more than likely, so you're saying we'll making the sweet 16!

this bracket has LSU as an 8 seed. this link is the whole S curve.

LINK /

that means they would play a 9 seed, basically an even game.
then, in the round of 32, they would play the 1 seed, and they would not have to play U of K, so it would be Virginia, based on geography, maybe Wisconsin. Either way a tough game in the round of 32.

Let there be no doubt. I love the inside play of LSU.
I just find the guard play to be amateur.
The inside play is so good, it may be enough to carry them a long way.

Our guard play isn't nearly as bad as you make it out to be.

Agreed, TQ has drawn some NBA scout attention and Hornsby has scored 10+ points in the last, what, 7 games or something. Patterson is getting better and better and Gray isnt screwing things up as much in prior games. We don't have any elite guards but they are good.

I love Gray playing off the ball in the half court offense.

He's out of control IMO running, but man can he get to the basket and create of a dribble
