Baseballers - What is your league set up?

Specifically in dealing with rosters?
Roster size? Bench to starters ratio?
Keepers? If so how many?
Prospects? If so how are they incorporated?
We are in the process of setting up a league and looking into some customization outside of the standard 5x5 leagues. Looking for ideas or things you enjoy about your leagues.

How many teams is a good way to dictate roster size or keepers. You need to decide if you want a decent free agent pool (less roster spots) or a limited pool with more emphasis put on the owner collecting a bunch of players to form a nice team (more roster spots).
As for the rosters, you usually want one of each position, a few utility spots, maybe a corner and middle infield positon. Pitchers will have starters and relievers, or just a "pitcher" designation.
The least amount of keepers, the more emphasis you'll be putting on the draft every year. It will also allow more parity year to year.
The more keepers you have, the more chance to build a "team" over time. More chance for a team to build a dynasty over the course of a few years.
Prospects fall more in line with Dynasty Leagues, which would be where you keep your whole roster. But they will come into play in deeper keeper leagues as well. You can establish minor league roster spots or keep them the same designation as MLB guys

I agree with everything you said. I would just add if you are new to fantasy baseball a dynasty league is probably not the way to go. Its just alot to take in with all the prospects. I'd start off with a keeper first to get acclimated then work your way up.

I have two leagues on here.
14 team H2H
8 keeper with no penalties for keeping players
Snake
R/HR/RBI/SB/OPS
QS/ERA/WHIP/SV/K:9
30 man rosters (19 starters)
? Team roto (14 teams last year)
Non-keeper
Auction
R/HR/RBI/SB/OPS
QS/ERA/WHIP/SV/K
Don't remember roster size
Looking for a couple more owners in the roto league actually.

Thanks for your responses. Much appreciated.
This is a league we've had for quite a few years now (10 tm, possibly moving to 12), but we feel we've out grown the 5x5 redraft format. I know there are some serious league/players on her and was just looking for some ideas and things people like or dislike from their respective leagues.
What platform do most use? We've used ESPN in the past but am unsure of it's customability.
Thanks again
