In all fairness I hate the tired old bullshite overdone line of "glad I didn't pay for this shite" but if anytime that has been relevant it was last night.

I think the rantards that came in to troll don't realize that this was not supposed to be the main event.

There is no doubt she is great for the sport. I said that she couldn't carry a ppv and I stand by that. As a co-main event there isn't as much of a problem. Let Rousey fight Jessica Eye in the main event of a card and see what the ppv numbers look like. Rousey is too dominant to carry a ppv. I love the UFC but I am really glad I didn't pay $60 to watch Rousey armbar someone in 14 seconds, again.

A friend of mine said if the main event is lost they at least could cut the paper-view to 29.95 instead of making it an all out free card. That would make a little sense.
The UFC has already said they would never do this. They've shown that they would rather cancel a card altogether than introduce tiered pricing for cards.

Ridiculous. Mike Tyson agrees. Dominant champions are what makes PPVs.

Agree

Let Anderson Silva rematch Patrick Cote and see what the numbers are. They aren't above 500k I can guarantee you that.

Rousey vs. Cyborg will do 500k. They will promote the shite out of that fight. White has said that Rousey get's as much or more pub then Brock Lesnar got. The media are fawning over a woman badass and she's it. She's a dominant badass with the mean mug but extremely sexy at the same time.

She has it all.
1st round dominant finishes
Sex appeal

And plays a great heel.

Would be biggest fight in UFC history viewer wise.

I think it happens sometime next year (probably first half of year). Definitely not a lock to happen, the weight cut for Cyborg will be ridiculous and unhealthy. That said, LOT of money at stake, so I think Cyborg risks some health damage and makes weight.

If it happens, I favor Rousey at 135. Would call it a toss up at 140 and Cyborg at 145 for sure.

Rousey should go up to 140.

Mad respect for her if she does and it gives everyone the super fight that is wanted. Unlike Mayweather who ducked for years and now decides to fight when both fighters are well past their prime.

Rousey is head and shoulders above the competition and finishes her opponents quickly, that's where the similarities with Tyson end. Tyson was doing nearly 2 million ppv buys a bout against guys like Lennox and Holyfield. Obviously boxing does better ppv numbers than the UFC, but Rousey isn't even keeping pace with other UFC stars in terms of ppv buys.

The two cards Rousey headlined before this card, against Carmouche and McMann, did 450k and 350k respectively.

White has said that Rousey get's as much or more pub then Brock Lesnar got.

And yet her ppv numbers aren't even in the same league.

Lesnar/Mir II - 1.6 million
Lesnar/Carwin - 1 million
Lesnar/Velasquez - 900,000

I think Rousey is a great champion and helps to raise the profile of the UFC, but people aren't going to keep paying to watch her headlining cards in which she beats inferior competition in less than thirty seconds.

A fight against Cyborg is really the only interesting matchup out there for Rousey, but even if they did that fight it wouldn't bring in top notch ppv numbers. Jones/Cormier just did 800k for example. Rousey/Cyborg would probably be 500k like you said.

No chance!

ETA: that it would be the biggest fight ever, it would get 500k

I agree it would be ideal if Rousey did a non title fight with her at 140, but it isn't gonna happen.

First, she loses her advantage IMO.

Second, Dana has said no emphatically several times. He refused to do it for a Carano Rousey match last year as well.

Just doesn't sense long term for the UFC. Rousey is the champ and biggest star. A nontitle fight that is a toss up against cyborg who isn't very marketable anyway and a catch weight fight on top of it is just bad business for the UFC.

Hell even Anderson Silva and Pierre ducked each other while in their prime.

Rousey needs to fight cyborg.

Rousey doesn't need to do shite. If Cyborg can make 135 Rousey would fight her in a heartbeat but by moving up she has everything to lose and nothing to gain. If she loses the fight her aura of invincibility will be gone, her ppv #s in the future will drop a ton, she won't get paid as much for movies etc. If she wins sure she will get nice #s for that one fight but it wont change anything else for her. Nobody close to her with even half of a brain would let her move up to fight Cyborg, the risk-reward makes no sense.

Her aura of invincibility is what makes her so marketable and if she loses people won't be as interested in her as they are now. If they aren't as interested not as many people will go out of their way to see her in the movies. If that happens she will absolutely get paid less.

Somewhat of a hybrid between a man and woman thanks to copious hormone therapy.

No female is going to beat Rousey. However, the Cyborg is definitely capable which is why it is the only legit opponent for Rousey.
