If you could choose, from a purely hunting and fishing aspect, between these to locations. All other things equal (minus housing cost, because, they just are not equal). Which area would you want to live in.

Meaning your job type/pay would be similar in both areas, and you were making a huge pros/cons list and if came down to only outdoor related activities to narrow your choice.

new braunfels itself has become one big strip mall (except Gruene etc)

it is however a nice jumping off point for hill country outdoor activities

New Braunfels for the Hill Country and you'll be close to Gruene and Austin. Probably a little lower cost of living than Houston, also.

You need to pick one or the other really. NB is pretty much the gateway to West TX / Hill Country lots of good hunting close

If fishing is your thing Humble is closer to big fresh water like Conroe / Sam Rayburn / Toldeo Bend. Or you can be on the coast within a hour and twenty minutes if SW is your thing.

Better big game hunting near New Braunsfels, better/more fishing and waterfowl near Houston.

Fishing and ducks if you move to Humble, but pronounce it without the H or the locals will look at you like a tard.

Just depends on what kind of hunting/fishing you're into like what the others have said.

If I were you I would buy a house on either the Guadalupe or Comal River and then you can be two hours west from town shooting whitetails, hogs, turkeys, exotics, and quail. Those rivers are cool in the summer and you can flyfish the Guad for rainbows in the winter and spring.

Get you a fishing a camp in Sargent, Palacios, or POC if you like saltwater and have your weekend trips. There is also Canyon Lake and Lake Austin for bass close by.
