frick, finally a good movie from this latest round of artsy shite.

Jake Gylenalphabet: This was not JG. This is a good thing. I have not been a big fan for various reasons, mostly because he always plays Jake Gyll... Even the Prince of Persia was Jake Gyllenhal (I finally spelled it out). No, he sold the frick out of this whacked out, quirky but insanely driven weirdo. Great performance.

Plot: original premise. The movie WENT places (frick you, Birdman). Great developments. Great acting all around and dialogue.

A very solid watch. Doesn't set your soul afire or make you tear up, just a good solid acting job with interesting plot.

This was Jake's best performance and sadly he'll not win an award for it.

To be fair, Gyllenhaal has been magnificent in most things he's been in over the past couple years. He was great in Enemy and Prisoners.

watched last night
amazing...

can we discuss the ending spoiler here?
specifically, about rick...was there a "plan B" so that he didn't squeal to the cops? or was what happened "plan B" and lou just got lucky?

it all seemed a little too tidy to be chance...

also, what about that restaurant scene?
i don't remember doing it but i went from sitting on the couch to standing two feet from the screen

He got lucky with the situation but either way he would have found a way to get the other guy out of the way. If not then, later.

Should've been two straight Oscar nominations.

Am I misremembering? I thought he was just demanding a full piece of the cash.

He couldn't very well turn Lou in because he would be just as guilty for filming the shootout and chase.

I hear you but Lou's story only works without a witness otherwise

Obviously Lou was never going to give rick half the cash and his whole plan was at risk if rick talked

also his story only works if the 2 killers can't talk either

so what was Lou going to do if they gave themselves up in the restaurant?

I was honestly disappointed in the ending.. Just thought he should have been caught or punished

JG was fantastic and his performance was the best part of the movie for me by far. Wasn't really a fan of the plot and how it all ended up developing.
