'50 Shades' sequel delayed by 'dramatic creative reshuffling'

I did not see the current one and have no desire. I know many on this board have seen it whether by choice or being drug to it by their SO.

Don’t expect the sequel to Fifty Shades of Grey to be out by next Valentine’s Day, Variety magazine says in a new report.
The report claims insiders blame a delay in the production of “Fifty Shades Darker” on differences between Universal executives and E.L. James, the author of the best-selling trilogy about Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele.

Now that “Fifty Shades of Grey” has become an international box office phenomenon, author E.L. James is seeking more control over the sequel by writing the script herself. Universal Pictures, which had been resistant to the idea, is currently discussing the potential move with James, who wrote the bestselling erotic trilogy about Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, Variety has learned.
Given the success of “Fifty Shades of Grey,” which has so far grossed more than $300 million worldwide, the next logical step would be for the studio to announce the greenlight to its sequel, “Fifty Shades Darker.”
According to insiders, the delay in the production of “Fifty Shades Darker” is related to the fact that Universal execs and James are still arguing over details. Unlike most successful franchises, which aim to retain the team behind the first film, it appears that “Fifty Shades” will undergo a dramatic creative reshuffling in the weeks to come. Sources close to the project don’t expect director Sam Taylor-Johnson or screenwriter Kelly Marcel to be back for the second installment, though reps for the studio say no official decisions have been made.

Its so weird but you get then feeling that both leads not only realize that they are now household names, but almost instantly regret accepting the roles.

That would be a mistake. I haven't seen the film, but the positive reviews I've read have largely been due to how the director and screenwriter made much needed changes to the source material (which I have read and boy, is it terrible). The creative clearly didn't treat the book as a holy text and practically remade the female lead into an actual character. I think the author resented that, and now she wants her vision on the screen, which is going to be awful.

Have to lean with what you are saying on this. The author needs to be LESS involved b/c her writing just flat out sucks. I can't imagine how bad it was before an editor got to it. I haven't read the full book but my GF has and the bits she read to me were just awful. She really only finished them b/c she got them on a Amazon sale and figured that she spent the money so she may as well commit. I haven't seen somebody so reluctant to finish a book series since assigned reading in high school.

Critics Consensus: While creatively better endowed than its print counterpart, Fifty Shades of Grey is a less than satisfying experience on the screen.
Ruining the one good thing about the movie.

If we're lucky, no more of these crap movies/books will ever happen again

Imagine if Showgirls made $80 millions dollars opening weekend. It's basically the same thing. But men are the shallow ones?
