I stop off after work to have a beer and close out. I sit down and order the beer and hand the bartender my credit card and ask her to close the tab as I was only having the beer. She pours the beer and places it next to me and starts running the card. I get up and use the restroom real quickly. I come back and my credit card and receipt is laying there next to the beer. I looked at the bartender and gave her a "What the hell are you thinking look". She easily picked up on how dissatisfied I was. Someone could have easily snatched the card and ran off while I was in the restroom or have taken a picture of the card on their cellphone. Was I in the wrong in doing so?

Probably a little over reaction. I would not be happy either though, and I bet she won't do it again.

Was it a shady bar?

I generally wait to get my card back when I hand it to someone but that's just me.

In doing what? Looking at her funny? Who cares?

She probably shouldn't have left your card there without you there, but I would bet anything it was more a lapse in judgment/her not thinking about that than anything else.

Did you just give her a look? Cause that's all I'm reading that happened.

No, it was like a brewpub, but it is a crowded, after-work spot.

Overreaction

You told her to close the tab and then you walked off

you shouldn't have left before your card was back. and if you're mad about that, be mad at yourself. she has other people to take care of, not just you.

Should have waited for your card before hopping up and leaving for the restroom. Chalk it up as someone having more shite on their mind and plate than waiting on you to shake the piss off the head of his ant dick.

I get your point but you prob should've waited for the card instead of running off if you were closing out.

Dumb for both of you, but additionally, I just don't get very worked up about stuff like that. I've had all of my accounts compromised, and all of them were restored without much hassle. It's just the nature of modernity, I would give her a puzzled look, but I wouldn't have been terribly angry.

If you hand your card to someone and tell them to close it, you don't walk off. You were actually the rude one in this instance.

You're lucky the beer was still there too when you got back.
