Maybe I went on an off day but Gus's wasn't that great when I went.

Think they can maintain the quality? Also seems rather ambitious of them

Good question. I love the memphis location but how well can they maintain that standard across the country?

Which one?
I think there's like 6 or 7 of them in Memphis.
They have Oxford MS, Little Rock AR, and Austin TX locations too.

The one downtownish on Front Street. I thought they only had two or three in Memphis, but I could be wrong.

Meh. I've honestly had much better chicken in small-town Louisiana. I've eaten at Gus's many times - it's good, but it's nothing special. Actually, I'd say the quality lines up pretty well with other chain restaurants.

Their chicken is solid, sides leave a lot to be desired, though.

Only fried chicken restaurant I have been to that had a security guard outside.

I have eaten at the original Gus' downtown by the River and the other older one in Midtown off of Poplar.
Didn't like it. Way too spicy, honestly. I like a little flavor, but I don't like fried chicken to be that spicy.
Do not like.

I've never had Gus's. I remember seeing it on like Guy Fieri or whatever and people on here touting it in Memphis threads. I looked at the website, and peeked at the franchise opportunities. I'd love to bring one to the bay area but don't have that kind of capital

Uncle Lou's better than Gus....and Gus ain't bad.

Umm, the franchise in Memphis isn't nearly as good as the original and only genuine location of Gus's (in Mason, Tennessee).
So the answer to the question is that they've already proven they can't maintain the quality in franchised locations.
For the real Gus's, you have to go to Mason. It's the best fried chicken restaurant in America, so could y'all start showing it some respect and learn where it actually is?
At least stop referring to the Memphis franchise as the original, for Christ's sake ....
